Doctors giving STRONG antibiotics for sickness going around.......
MY best friend and my child came down with some kind of virus that went from sore throat to, sinus, ear, and lower resporitory infection, in about 3 days time.

Our doctor game my child (pardon my spelling)ciffoloxin and my best friends doctor gave her cipro. I know that these antibiotics are SUPER STRONG......

I am just wondering if they suspect some super bug going around.

If it's a virus anti-biotics won't help. They over use them in case of secondary infection. Which is the only reason you wouls need them for a virus. Your best bet to treat something like that is olive leaf. It's anti-biotic, anti-viral and anti-fungal. I have cleared strep throat with it. Works great. Just don't take it with and anti-biotic or diabetes meds or blood thinners.

My friend and child developed secondary infections in about 3 days time. It started out like a cold or flu or something then it got fairly serious fast.

I know each of these antibiotics are quinoline class. Heavy dudy.

Gonna look up olive leaf. thanks. So far I'm not sick yet.

They didn't say anything about swine flu, but it makes me wonder.. I thought swine flu wasn't supposed to be that bad. I had heard that it wasn't as bad as regular flu.

Worry when you see Vancomycin, quinupristin, dalfopristin and linezolid.

Of course, these are becoming less useful against gram-negative bacteria.

Doctors won't say so in public, but gram-negatives are getting out of control, due to over-use of anti-biotics/anti-bacterials.

Earlier in the year, I came down with something that was very like influenza: rapid onset, high fever, respiratory problems, mostly bronchial, it put me in bed for five days--then it changed and went down in my lungs, and the fever abated, but I was still weak.

I finally went to the doctor and he did prescribe some heavy-duty antibiotics (can't remember which one) because I had developed pneumonia, which often IS bacterial and a secondary complication from the first illness.

It can often happen that a virus starts the trouble and then bacteria take advantage of the suppressed immune system.

This all happened within a week or two of the start of the Swine-Flu 'scare' so I still wonder if I did, indeed have Swine Flu. I have had bad influenza in the past so I know what it feels like.

As to treating strep with anything but antibiotics---no thanks. I had a strep skin infection once. It used to be nearly 100% fatal before penicillin. I'll take my chance with the shot.

Both of my parents were quite sick for 3 days, and finally had to go to the doctor. Once they were started on antibiotics, there was impovement within 24 hours and the fever quelled. It went to the lung, but started out as a mild sore throat and respiratory secretions.

I too had a realy serious bout with the flu earlier this year. I was out of it for about 2 weeks. Then my oldest got it and wond up in ER with a temp of 102.9. Scared the shit out of me. We raced to the hospital with the windows open in the dead of winter to cool the fever.

It was sooooo bad.

I had what you described for two weeks. The doctor didn't want to give me any anti-biotics. I was able to fight it off ok with vitamin c in large doses.

I need to do that but to tdo it right you should really eat it not take it in a pill. It's just so hot that I have trouble eating it straight. I also wanted to mention to have your child eat yogurt without sugar in it while on an anti-biotic. Mix it with honey if neccessary, espically for girls or take acidopholus.

I wonder how many cases are just treated and not reported. I wonder if the doctors document it and don't tell the patient what they suspect, as not to panic people.

If I'm sick I take 4000 to 5000 mgs wich is 4 to 5 grams. The only think you need to worry about is the bleeding risk if you are on certian meds or have a disorder but I take 3 TBLS of fish oil a day an when I take olive leaf and I don't bleed abnormally. Just don't take the olive leaf at the same time as an anti-biotic or they both won't work.

Gram-negative has an extra protein layer on the outside that sheds most of the violet dye they use to i.d. it (Gram+ violet,Gram- pink). This also makes it a little more difficult to kill.

There are 6 standard Gr+ bacteria that harm humans(Listeria, Staph,Strep, (there are variants).

Gr- has a whole host , including Mennegitis, Gonorrhea, E-coli, Salmonella, etc.

Sometimes the body gets both.

After treatment, get her yogurt. She'll need to replace beneficial bacteria ASAP.
