The root broke off as it was being extracted. My dentist told me she would have to cut my gums, so it flaps open and then grind my jaw bone to get at the remaining root. There is also the risk of nerve damage and I would have this tingling in my lip for life.Hearing this kind of freaked me so I started firing questions at her.Dont know what happened but she wants the hospital to do it now, so I will be probably waiting months knowing the nhs to get the remaining root out.Is grinding the jaw bone a big deal?
Quoting: FALLENMONKI don't know, FALLENMONK, but if it were me, I think I'd find a way to KILL any infection around the root and let the whole thing heal over. But that's just me and how I do things. :) Your dentist should have known by the X-rays that breaking off the root was a real possibility and taken great care to dig it out while extracting the tooth. It would have happened to me but for a really skilled dentist. Get a second opinion. .
