Where in the Bible does it say people who commit suicide go to hell?

there´s one verse and i´m not sure where it´s found but it goes like this: "the lord giveth and the lord taketh." this is the verse most use when suicide questions come up. god gave life and god takes it.

which can bring up even more questions.

I grew up catholic and i remember this subject coming up in RE class. Just because it doesn´t spell it out for us in the bible doesn´t mean its not there. Its all in interpretation. The sanctity of life is sacred and that is a decision for god not mortals. but the last poster is also correct when they said that it leads to more questions because if suicide is a sin what about the medical profession? Is it going against the bible to use medical techniques to keep a person alive? The pope is a perfect example.

I do agree that suicide is demon inspired but I get a little annoyed by so called “Christians telling people why there going to hell and at the same time not even mentioning the salvation promised by Jesus Christ.

Just because it doesn´t spell it out for us in the bible doesn´t mean its not there. Its all in interpretation

i agree, i´m not a practicing catholic, never did feel comfortable with the whole hell and damnation part of it. I also hated being preached too and still do. I do however believe that the forgiveness will be given to anyone that sincerely repents.
(boy i do sound like a bible thumper and i haven´t touched a bible in years) amazing what a new outlook on life will do for someone, even me

HM - The medical profession is playing God these days. Is it moral to keep a baby alive that was born 6 months premature and has to be on life support until it eventually dies? Is it right to keep critical accident victims alive just because they can? Is it right to keep elderly people alive past the time that God had chosen for them? Is it right to create life in a barren body?

I have mixed feeling about commit suicide. I agree with User ID: 916 ,but I don´t.

The reason why I feel this way is because don´t we ALL basically commit suicide? No matter what you die from [unless someone kills you], you are basically committing suicide.

Think about all the disease that we get. Cancer can be caused by diet or smoking etc. etc. etc. If we don´t change our diets or quit smoking and then get cancer are we not committing suicide to a certain degree.

Same goes for other disease like heart disease etc.

Once we are born, we are on the path to death. So many decisions we make in life can be for our good or bad. Same goes for anything we put into our bodies. As with many of these aspects we have no control, same goes for diseases. Can they really be controlled through diet/exercise etc.?

Sometimes they can and sometimes they can´t.

So if we die of any of these disease are we held countable because of this?

Well in my opinion someone that commits suicides is mentally ill. So wouldn´t it rank with a disease that causes death.

Like I said, I don´t believe it´s right to commit suicide, but these are some things to think about.

When you commit suicide, you reincarnate and get to repeat your life up to the point where you left off. You must then work out the problem eventually. So suicide is not the right choice. Best to be strong and deal with your problems than run away from them.

One who commits suicide cannot be judged by humans. Until we´ve walked in their shoes we´ll never know how they were feeling.

My sister committed suicide in October 2003 and some of our family members, including myself, have had visions of her bathed in light.

I do believe she went through a period of ´cleansing´ or some sort of probation because it took a couple of months before these visions came to us and because I found myself praying fervently for her for those two months.

I am Catholic.
And I like it.
Never was I taught that one whom commits suicide goes straight to hell..
But Rather:
God makes all final judgements resting upon the person´s death: at the moment of that person´s death/-revolving upon
-All-
the ´factors ´involved in that person´s entire lifetime history.

i wasn´t taught that either and if i implied that i appologize. i was taught that it was a sin though and like all sins you will be forgiven if you repent.

ALL I CAN SAY IN REPLY IS THAT I TRIED TOKILLMYSELF TWICE ONCE ON DEC 14TH AND THEY PUT ME ON ANTI-DEPRESSENT AND WELL ON JAN 6 I TOOK 40 OF THOSE PILLS...AND WHEN I WAS UNDER THOSE PILLS AND DYING AND HAD 2 STROKES..IT WAS NOTMY TIME...HE TOLD ME...

All I can say is don,t ask a question like this until you have sat on the verg of death..cause that is the time you will get your answer...and those of you , you are talking to, don,t know if they will kill themselves today or tomorrow or the next day...

and what about the other 9 commandments....doyou believe...totally one hundred percent...do your eyes not fall upon a women( or a man) and youlust...do tell do you 10 percent to the church...and what does thou shalt not kill have to do with suicide

then nighmare you should know what i mean to sit on the verge of death...and the tone in your head is different then your own..and telling you not now...
God loves all and they stopped suicide cause death is easier then life...cause as a slave to life..i would prefer death...

When you die you are dead until Jesus resurrects you at his return. You are then judged & have a chance to follow God & his ways.

Somebody talked about the commandments. The majority of this country don´t follow them. How many kept the Sabbath today? (Saturday)

Christians say alot of things that are not in the Bible. Where does it say that Mary Mag was a prostitute? Where does it say you can´t have an abortion but you can kill in war? Where does it say blacks were spawned from monkey? If Jesus is in heaven he´s wishing he had listened to satan!
