Normal operations are expected to resume in a few days. They mean while they take down the image captured by angels helper. ;)....either a space rock is inbound or a craft I prefer the latter. Meanwhile, Dow futures are -100.00 [link to www.bloomberg.com] and NK opened the border to the south so that the Bush/Clinton cabal have an escape route straight to hell. |

Something is amiss I cant be for sure but all day today me and other have felt very on edge almost and anxiou kind of earth animals react when they sense impending danger and lately all this week I have had terrible dreams mainly of a great major earthquake 9.0+ and tsunamis and rough waters. |

I don't know if helium is fact but it has been a rather strange week for many and mother earth. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 538734[link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov] So, just pop over to the other independent solar observatories. Oh, you didn't know there were others? Well, I guess that says a lot about how deeply your do your 'research'. Do tell us when that image you are so worried about vanishes, and I'll then explain SOHO's archiving process, and how to find old images. Clearly that sort of stuff is also beyond you. |

Normal operations are expected to resume in a few days. And for those still having trouble interpreting the image... as I pointed out before: 1. The SOHO camera is, obviously, focused on 'infinity' ie the lens is set for distant objects. So anything close to the spacecraft, most likely a piece of ice or degraded/damaged insulation materials, will be DE-focused, and appear as large round or donut shaped blob (the donut shape is caused indirectly by the presence of the obscuring disk). 2. The LASCO C3 exposures are tuned for very dim filamentary objects, which is why the background stars appear. Each exposure takes about 15-20 seconds. So a slow moving piece of stuff, near to the camera, will leave a donut shaped trail. the nearer to the camera, the larger the donut (more out of focus), so as a nearby object moves across the field and either away or towards the camera, its width will increase/decrease. |
