I don't want to be a wet blanket but if you take a cash payment instead of annuity, that cuts the jackpot roughly in half and then taxes will take another bit hit in my State it's 25% Fed tax and 5% state tax. So I would ballpark you'll actually be taking home roughly 25%-33% of the total jackpot.

The 23-year-old rancher appeared with South Dakota Lottery officials at an award ceremony in Pierre after claiming the $232.1 million he won in the May 27 drawing. Sorry, but I have the winning ticket...per the power ball website the cash option is $124,800,000.00. Now I figure on that amount the taxable % may be 35% which would equate to $81,120,000.00.

I have my plans already set for all the people I will help...of course, my husband and I will pay off our debt, then help our family and friends...but what I really would like to do is to buy the foreclosed homes in our area (small rural towns) and give them back to the original owners.
