Quoting: Anonymous Coward 384553The draw is tonight, he is claiming to have picked the winning numbers, or have the lucky ticket, not to have already won. |

So I would ballpark you'll actually be taking home roughly 25%-33% of the total jackpot. Sorry.... |

I could use some new fishing line, leader and tippet. And a few new flies. Like maybe an Adams, a few Adams Parachutes, a few small gold bead head nhymps, and a few hopper patterns. Other than that I am good. Don't worry though. I am in no hurry. Some folks above seem to be in dire need. Have a good one! Fishing and skiing keeps me a little sane. |

Strong Sales Push Powerball to a Quarter Billion Dollars ($250 Million) Stronger than expected sales are pushing the Powerball jackpot to a new estimated jackpot of $250 million ($124,800,000 cash option) for the Wednesday, August 19th drawing. Besides being the largest lottery jackpot currently offered in the United States, the new estimate of $250 million is the 10th largest Powerball jackpot ever awarded if won on Wednesday. The current run began on Wednesday, July 1st and is on its 15th draw without a jackpot hit. Powerball has produced approximately 10 million winners during this run. |

Wanless chose to receive the jackpot as a one-time cash prize of $118,005,530. [link to powerball.com] IS THE CASH AMOUNT THE JACKPOT AMOUNT AFTER TAXES? No. When we advertise a prize of $100 million paid over 29 years (30 payments), we actually have less than $50 million in cash. When someone wins the jackpot and wants cash, we give them all of the cash in the jackpot prize pool. If the winner wants the annuity, we invest the $50 million in cash to fund the annuity payments. The winner gets the cash plus the interest earned. When you see an estimated jackpot annuity prize, we are estimating both sales and what the market's prices on certain securities will be. The annuity jackpot amount and the cash jackpot amount that we announce are always estimates until sales are final and, for the annuity jackpot, until we take bids on the purchase of securities. Federal and State Income tax apply to whatever income you actually receive in a given tax year, whether it is wages or lottery prizes. If you take the cash amount (say $50 million), then you pay income tax on $50 million). If you take the annuity (say $100 million), then you pay income tax on the money you actually receive each year. Just like your wages, a withholding amount is required to be taken out immediately. The lottery will send you a W2-G form and you figure your actual tax at tax time. |

Sorry, but I have the winning ticket...per the power ball website the cash option is $124,800,000.00. Now I figure on that amount the taxable % may be 35% which would equate to $81,120,000.00. I have my plans already set for all the people I will help...of course, my husband and I will pay off our debt, then help our family and friends...but what I really would like to do is to buy the foreclosed homes in our area (small rural towns) and give them back to the original owners. . . .
