I have lived in Las Vegas for ten years, and that is nine years and 11 months too long. Soon I will be back in the rural country in Idaho. If you like cities go for it. Fishing and skiing keeps me a little sane. |

It is bullshit. When will the insanity stop? And just why do you think I was in Flint in the first place, if not to visit family? There's no other reason to go anywhere near there. Believe me, and I say this from first-hand knowledge, the vast majority of the people who live there would love to live somewhere else, but they can't because they can't get anything for their homes. Nice try. Next time, do a bit of research before you go off on some sort of self-righteous, self serving diatribe. And, leave my arrogance out of it. In ten years we'll look back on this moment, laugh nervously, and quickly change the subject. |

Most are former industrial cities in the "rust belt" of America's Mid-West and North East. They include Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Memphis." |

There is plenty of excess housing on the market now. All you need to do is put 2 and 2 together. Like what they say at closing time "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here". |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 754438They are not bulldozing perfectly fine houses. There are selected areas in Flint that are being torn down, mostly neighborhoods that have been abandoned and trashed. Try watching some videos on these neighborhoods. These places need torn down, they are dangerous, many have been torched already and sometimes the fire companies just let them burn. Look for yourself. If the city in contracting in population, what is the sense in spending city monies to keep services going? None. In many cases there is no one living there. Houses have had all the copper plumbing taken out and anything else of value. Flint does not have the money to revitalize these areas. |
