United States 08/23/2009 03:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Noted Princeton religious scholar's son dies of rare unknown disease Does anyone find it suspicious that shortly after Elaine Pagels published the Gnostic Gospels her son contracted a rare unknown illness which took his life five years later? And then her husband died the next year of a climbing "accident" just as she was coming out with another controversial book "Adam, Eve and the Serpent". The Gnostic Gospels really rocked the world view of Christianity at the time and brought in other competing and just as valid teachings that taught us that the kingdom of heaven is within and that we are all the light of the world. Would the ramifications of this information motivate some to perpetrate these crimes? Information food for thought. Ironically, after the death of her son and husband, she published "The origins of Satan" which "...argues that the figure of Satan became a way for orthodox Christians to demonize their religious opponents, namely, other Christian sects and Jews."
