Anonymous Coward User ID: 758862 Spain 08/31/2009 04:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's late, and I'm out for a smoke, looking at the stars, and it occurs to me: Quoting: Greg_B.All these ancient civilizations with AStrological charts, which are always discussed but never looked very deeply at, aren't we missing the bigger picture? How in the hell did these Astrologers know about constellations that aren't in their hemisphere??? Forget about the accuracy, and the advanced math required to sort it all out... What about the stars they never saw? How did they know about them? Perhaps I misunderstand or over-estimate the charts they possessed, but I always hear about how complete and thorough they were. of course re were few before this shit civilization came to be. It will come to pass soon too. |

They killed all of them to get the sky charts finished. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 758862UH-HA lol The rise and fall of man, is much like the tidal ebb. |

How in the hell did these Astrologers know about constellations that aren't in their hemisphere??? The constellations of the zodiac are along the line of the ecliptic, which is not inclined to the line of the celestial equator enough to make any of the constellations in the zodiac specific to either hemisphere; many people in both hemispheres can see the entire array of constellations along the ecliptic. They didn't know about or create any constellations for stars specific to the opposite hemisphere, and such things are irrelevant to astrology as we know it today. Perhaps I misunderstand or over-estimate the charts they possessed, but I always hear about how complete and thorough they were. Quoting: greg_bMost people do over-estimate ancient sky charts. Their ability to predict how long and when a star or planet will be visible is "extraordinary" to many people because so few people in the modern era take nearly as much notice of the sky or have an instinctive understanding of when and where the planets and stars will appear. The end result is thread after thread of people breathlessly taken aback by the appearance of Jupiter, Venus, or even the moon. Last Edited by Astromut on 08/31/2009 08:39 AM |

The Earth must have had a much weaker gravitational effect. The clues are this, 1 - Stone monuments to heavy to build. It would explain pyramids and the such. 2 - Creatures, like dinosaurs, to big to live under there own weight. Explains why they died off. Flying creatures were larger back then. 3 - Fish fossils in areas where there is no ocean 4 - Gravity is fluctual, meaning the chances of gravity remaining constant is not as likelyu as it can alter. Just a theory but it would explain soooo many historical mysteries. |

Quoting: Greg_B.You do. How the Mayans... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 728223The Maya, not the Mayans. [link to en.wiktionary.org] built a calendar superior to even modern man's capabilities, that is very impressive. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 728223The length of the year in the Maya solar calender (the Haab') is 365 days. The length of the year in the Gregorian calender is 365.2425 days. Which one do you think is more accurate? Reaching for the sky makes you taller. Hi! My name is Halcyon Dayz and I'm addicted to morans. |
