Why would the ancients be so fascinated by a little spark of light when compared to the sun and moon that little spark was just one of countless in the night sky? Quoting: heathor 760311I think you might be confusing that with the pentagram? six pointed star has been used by many humans over time.. the jews do not have any claim to it. It goes by the name of' merkaba star tetrahedron ' amongst many others. going slightly off-topic here , sry The six-pointed star is made up of two interlaced pyramids. The pyramid pointing upwards represents a tomb where the Egyptians placed their dead. The pyramid pointing downward is an inverted pyramid which represents the womb, or birth. When interlaced the two pyramids together have six points, six triangles and six sides to the inner hexagon. Originally pagan, the six-pointed star was used in Baal/Astoreth worship by ancient peoples including the Egyptians and was rebuked in Amos 5:26. The six-pointed star became known as the Seal of Soloomon after Solomon married the daughter of Pharoah (II Chronicles 8:11), built an altar to Astoreth, and entered into Baal/Ashtoreth worship (1 Kings 11:6-13). Solomon's blatant idolatry caused the splitting of the kingdom of Israel into the 10-tribe House of Israel that went into exile, and the Two-tribe House of Israel (Judah and Benjamin) that went into captivity in Babylon. Since then, usage of the six-pointed star has continued in Solomonic rituals in the Craft (freemasonry)and is seen in Masonic temples and medals. Long used in magic and witchcraft and the casting of astrological horoscopes, the six-pointed star has been used as the chief symbol of worship to Baal/Moloch in burnt human sacrificial rituals recorded in 11Chronicles 33:6;Jeremiah 32:35 etc . Used by the Druids, the six-pointed star has been used consistently in the occult, and was used by occultist, Adolph Hitler, during the holocaust (the word holocaust means burnt offering). In more recent times, it has almost replaced the Seven-branched Candlestick which was given to Moses and the children of Israel, as an everlsting covenant (Leviticus 24:8). The Seven-branched Candlestick occupied a place of honour in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness. There were no stars in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness. The seven bowls on each of the Seven-branched Candlestick which held the oil were almond shaped (Exodus 25:33).In modern times it is sometimes called the star or shield of David, but the Scriptures attest to the fact that David, King of Israel, had no star or shield. In fact, David calls G-d his shield in Psalm 3:3). World reknown Jewish writer, M. Hirsh Goldberg, in his book 'The Jewish Connection' states: "The star of David is not of Jewish origin and the ancient Israelites never used it as their religious symbol" (p.197). None of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel used the six-pointed star as their symbol--they all used the Seven-branched Candlestick. Therefore,"the six-pointed star does not belong in the Hebraic tradition" [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

I agree i believe it was much closer to earth and provided a subtle energy that made the earth a paradise and for that reason they called it the golden age of Kronos. Kronos fled and left the earth with a curse. It must have been close enough to make a great impression on the minds of the ancients. "What we do in life echoes an eternity" |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 760566 New Zealand 09/01/2009 01:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Worship of Saturn Saturn, so active in the cosmic changes, was regarded by all mankind as the supreme god. Seneca says that Epigenes, who studied astronomy among the Chaldeans, “estimates that the planet Saturn exerts the greatest influence upon all the movements of celestial bodies.” (1) On becoming a nova, it ejected filaments in all directions and the solar system became illuminated as if by a hundred suns. It subsided rather quickly and retreated into far-away regions. Peoples that remembered early tragedies enacted in the sky by the heavenly bodies asserted that Jupiter drove Saturn away from its place in the sky. Before Jupiter (Zeus) became the chief god, Saturn (Kronos) occupied the celestial throne. In all ancient religions the dominion passes from Saturn to Jupiter.(2) In Greek mythology, Kronos is presented as the father and Zeus as his son who dethrones him. Kronos devours some of his children. After this act Zeus overpowers his father, puts him in chains, and drives him from his royal station in the sky. In Egyptian folklore or religion the participants of the drama are said to be Osiris-Saturn, brother and husband of Isis-Jupiter. [link to www.varchive.org] |
