Amateurs do not have telescopes and the sophistication needed to spot this planet. This was spotted by that which is known as IRIS. This appears to be an infrared telescope capable of reading energies of near absolute zero. It is capable of reading this planet because it is in a frozen state of near absolute zero. It is colder that other energies around, and it is almost as large as Jupiter, and was first spotted outside of the orbit of Pluto, in the direction of Orion, moving toward the solar system

Now why would the Holy See spend fifty to one hundred million dollars building this scope and another four or five million per year to operate it? What could be coming in from the heavens that they feel is worth that kind of money to know about in as far in advance as humanly possible? What do they know that the rest of mankind (mostly) does not? And why are they willing to spend such incredible amounts of money to keep that info pouring in and constantly updated without the possibility that any government agencies could interfere or filter or deny them their rightfully owned output of their own observatory? I know two astronomers who work at the facility in Arizona and both are NON-US Citizens (the Catholics have a penchant for hiring south american nationals who are seriously catholic or from seriously catholic families - the kind of mega-catholic family where being excommunicated would have a real threat to it and where the family would move heaven, earth and hell to avoid that happening to one of their children... That way when one of the supervising scientists from the Vatican - who of course happens to be a bishop or higher in the church - tells the local guys to NOT publish or disclose their results in any way to the public - they are quite willing to go long with the mandate. According to their family and religious beliefs these men hold the keys to keep them out of heaven if they should violate their instructions.
