There is a good chance that neither of these statements is true. Jesus expounded certain ideas about how people should behave towards each other. No superstitious belief is required to live by the example he expounded. Faith in the correctness of his teachings is required to make the commitment to be a good and wholesome person, but such faith can be come by by rational analysis of the implications of all people behaving in this manner. Suggesting that Jesus is God, is not a requirement for believing in the rightness of his philosophical viewpoint. Worshiping him as a deity is not a requirement and very likely leads people to believe that this is what is required, rather than living accoriding to his teachings.

There is no evidence that the Buddha was an alien, and sufficient records to believe that he was simply an enlightened philosopher, as was Jesus. The Buddha did not teach a religion, he taught about becoming an enlightened person, and methods by which people could live in peace and harmony, mush as Jesus did. It is only through superstition practiced over time that some people have come to regard Buddhism as a religion. The modern beliefs derived from Buddhist philosophy include such unprovable gems as that all living things will be re-incarnated after 40 days, just as religious practice derived from Jesus teachings contain unprovable superstitious belief. The point about these unprovable superstitions is to make ordinary people, who do not or cannot use logical process to comprehend the implications, to behave towards each other and towards the world about them in a kind and gentle fashion. If such people believe they will be re-incarnated as another person or as another creature, they are more likely to treat such with kindness as a result of projecting themselves int its place.

Like wise modern Christian superstition uses the threat of hell and the promise of heaven as the stick and the carrot to engender such behavior from its adherents. The unfortunate result is that misguided people have extended this thinking into believing that if one does not perform the superstitious practice of worship one ends up in hell, and the requirement to get into heaven is the mere practice of worship, and not the practice of life the philosopher expounded.
