And I think it goes even further. Not only does all of this prep us for what's to come, but in many cases, it's actually hypnotizing people to carry out certain things to further the plan...and they don't even realise that they are mind controlled.

its called Predictive Programming, they have been programming your mind since birth, the reason for Hollywood movies is to set the idea in your brain for the message in the script to be more accepted by you , when a version of the message is brought about in real life, then you will be more accepting and go along, here is an example- you were slowly shown debit and credit cards, now everyone loves their plastic, just one more step towards a cashless society!
