Seismologist Dale Grant of the U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-4.0 quake struck at 8:20 p.m. Saturday (0320 GMT Sunday). It was centered five miles (eight kilometers) west of the town of Templeton and eight miles southwest of the much larger Paso Robles, at a depth of about three miles. Grant says damages are rare at magnitude-4.0 but "people really felt it." He says about 1,000 people from the area went to the USGS Web site and reported the shaking. San Luis Obispo County sheriff's Sgt. Dale Strobridge says his station received some calls about the quake, but no reports of problems. [ link to www.foxnews.com] |
