What's gerd?

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), gastric reflux disease, or acid reflux disease is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux in the esophagus.[1]
This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. This can be due to incompetence of the lower esophageal sphincter, transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxation, impaired expulsion of gastric reflux from the esophagus, or a hiatal hernia. Respiratory and laryngeal manifestations of GERD are commonly referred to as extraesophageal reflux disease (EERD).

Try a tea spoon of vinegar. It helps a lot of people but it really depends on the cause.

I got gastritis in the end of 2003.I got it because of bad eating habits. At that time I did not go to eat when I was hungry. I was busy working and I just delay my meal time until I was starving in pain. The stomach acid eventually eroded my stomach lining. Two weeks later, I felt pains in my duodenal area. I went to see a doctor and like all the other worthless doctors, he gave me nexium. For the following 6 months, I tried all kinds of acid drugs which made me truly feel like hell. I was not a smoker or coffee drinker. Neither was I a drug user. All of sudden, I was pumping all kinds of drugs into my body including nexium,aciphex,prelosec,ambien,ativan and prozac( I developed anxiety and depression 6 months after taking acid drugs). My body just went haywire. I ended up in the suicide crisis center. My husband sent me there because I tried to slit my wrist. I wanted to end it all because I could not handle the stomach excruciating burning pains, nonstop heartburn and all the side effects I had from taking all those drugs. My weight dropped from 136 to 108. I became violent and cried all the time. I was a stock broker and in 6 months I lost my job and ended up in a suicide prevention center. My husband came to visit me every day during visiting hours and I just hugged him hard and cried. That was a truly horrible time for me. Enough for my traumatic experience, you are probably thinking " Is this woman ever gonna stop and tell me what the cure is?" My gastritis dragged on for 4 years before I recovered from it. The cure I found is ......drums roll please.... CENTRUM. Believe it or not, once I started taking Centrum vitamin, my stomach was able to start the healing by itself. I quit all the acid drugs first before I started taking centrum. Acid drugs only perpetuate the inflammation. Think about it, the stomach is inflammed but we are feed the stomach a bunch of chemical every day hoping this will help the healing. It just did not work for me. My cure combo is centrum, oyster shell calcium from K mart to neutralize acid, and 3mg ativan to reduce the sensation of pains, plus ambian at night for sleep. Ambian was able to numb the burning pains so I could fall asleep. I tried Toms but the artificial flavoring just gave me heartburn. The oyster shell calcium worked much better for me. I rinsed the coating off the pill and bit half of it after each meal. One hour later, I would gently press my stomach to let out the gas produced by the neutralization. I dropped ambian a year ago because I no longer felt the burning and was able to sleep on my own. Centrum helped my stomach repair the lining. I dropped ativan 4 months ago also. I still take calcium and centrum. I will never skip a meal any more. I hope this will help you. You might want to talk to a doctor before you try my remedy because everybody's situation is different. as a general rule taking drugs for stomach problems only increases the problem in the long run....

all tissues of the body are strengthened by these vitamins....

Vitamin a, e and c....

and antioxidants such as zinc and selenium.....


take some vitamin a and e first....

avoid food and drinks that produce a lot of acid...

such as cofffee, sugar, flour and read meat...

avoid fried foods....

eat fresh green leafy veggies....salads....

I took Zantac for a long time until it stopped working and then Nexium for years. My doctors weren't able to give me a good explanation OR fix for my debilitating acid reflux. I saw this at a health food store and decided to try it. Within 3 days, my acid reflux was MONUMENTALLY improved and it got even better in the days afterwards. I take it every time I eat and I can now do things that I couldn't do before such as laying down to take a nap (would always get acid reflux laying down). It's really great stuff! Try it!!

Cut the majority of the carbs out of your diet. No, I'm not kidding.

Too many carbs for a lot of people = too high insulin levels due to insulin resistance.

Too high levels of insulin causes inflammation and inhibits the stomach from properly producing the mucus needed to coat the stomach to keep it's own acid from burning it.

I went low-carb and my GERD got 80% better, my asthma got 60% better, and the pains in my joints (early arthritis) went away completely.

try a vegetable juice each morning, it can take a while for the symptoms to ease off but it will help a lot in the long run, really worth doing.

Yes, OP, it's called changing your diet and not eating too much at one sitting. I've done it and it works.

Charcoal tablets really help. They're cheap and you can find them at vitamin/health food stores.

enzymes with food
probiotics between meals.

My GERD totally vanished in a week after I began drinking restructured alkaline antioxidant water.
