why does it say the Lord was crucified in Egypt?
<< Revelation 11 >>
New International Version

The Two Witnesses

1I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the worshipers there. 2But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months. 3And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” 4These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth. 5If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. 6These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

7Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. 9For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.

11But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. 12Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.

13At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

14The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon.

Cleansing From Sin

1“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.

2“On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. 3And if anyone still prophesies, his father and mother, to whom he was born, will say to him, ‘You must die, because you have told lies in the Lord’s name.’ When he prophesies, his own parents will stab him.

4“On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his prophetic vision. He will not put on a prophet’s garment of hair in order to deceive. 5He will say, ‘I am not a prophet. I am a farmer; the land has been my livelihood since my youth.a’ 6If someone asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your bodyb?’ he will answer, ‘The wounds I was given at the house of my friends.’

Re: why does it say the Lord was crucified in Egypt?
The reference to Sodom and Egypt is a figure of speech, naming two places (Egypt and Sodom) as representing what another place (Israel) is like. The place being spoken of (where our Lord was crucified) is Jerusalem, Israel in our near future. It is there that God's Two Witnesses will be murdered by the antichrist (satan). Jerusalem is referred to as spiritually being Sodom and Egypt, Sodom representing sexual and moral depravity (the act of sodomy was named after this place) and Egypt representing idolatry and oppression.

Revelation 11:8
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. KJV

And with the false state of Israel in the Mideast today, we see how the so-called “Jews” are rushing to fulfill this prophecy. I say “false state” because what is in Israel today does not fulfill any of the Old and New Testament prophecies for what a reconstitute Israel would be. In other words, like the false “Jews”of tody, so too is the modern day nation state of Israel false. It is there that antichrist(satan) shall set up his world power.

What the Scripture is doing here is prophesying that by the time of the end that Israel (the geographical region) will have been wholly corrupted. And we see the foundations of this today since 1948 when “Israel” was “re”founded on political intrigue, and the murder, rape, terrorism, and genocide practiced upon the prior inhabitants of the land (and still going on today to lesser degree than in the beginning).

The so-called “Jews” of today are not the Israel people of the Bible, they are not the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, they are the descendants of the racially Turko-Mogoloid people known as Khazars (today calling themselves Ashkenazi Jews). The Bible speaks of these impostor people:

Revelation 2:8-9
8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan. KJV

Revelation 3:7-9
7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. KJV

Now you know why the libel term, "AntiSemitism" or "AntiSemite" is such joke--a nonsensical word once you realize that the pretend "Jews" of today are not even a Semitic people, they themselves are Gentiles!

Let' see how long the cypto-Jewish minders here leave my post up.

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 769776

Note where it says "figuratively" just before the words "called Sodom and Egypt". This was either a deliberate play on words to mislead, or someone who just does not understand the danger they put themselves and others in when they do not translate doctrine correctly. Also note that this is translation of Revelation 18 is from the New International Version.

Since the original bible was written in Greek, let's find the most obvious translation from it's original and translate it to English.

The word in Greek which is used here is "pneumatikōs", which simply means "spiritual" [ref. Strong's G4153].

So, now let's remove the word "figuratively" and replace it with the word "spiritually". Now it makes a little more sense, doesn't it?

And their dead bodies [shall lie] in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Spiritually, the place which Jesus was crucified was called "Sodom and Egypt": meaning Jerusalem is going to be pretty wicked around the time described in Revelation 11.

In ancient Egypt, there were many idols and false gods. There was also a time when the Jews lived in Egypt and were forced into bondage by the Egyptians. Jews were looked down upon by the Egyptians, and the Pharaoh even attempted to wipe them out. In Sodom, sin such as homosexuality was celebrated and wickedness prevailed. Eventually the wickedness of Sodom was so great that God had to destroy it, and all the people with it.

I hope that helps.

why does it say the Lord was crucified in Egypt?
Because the person who wrote that book knew nothing of a crucified Jesus of Judea. That was invented later by the Roman Catholic Church. As to why it says crucified in Egypt, that's am OOPS, where the Church didn't get the story revised everywhere in the books that they adapted to be the bible for the new religion. The sage who wrote the Revelation was probably speaking of other man-gods who had been martyred, and Egypt had its share as well as other areas of the world.

Thanks it does in a way, yet I think the deception goes back abit more, to a different time era, what if the spiritual Egypt, means the ancestors of egypt?, and israel is just a deception on top of a deception?.

What if Egypt and Sodom where the places built in honour of the homeland of the original egyptians? I remember once hearing that Egypt was but a satilite of an older empire, the original founders lost there power, after the Event of the Exodus. Its also interesting to note that moses, was brought up in the Egyptian Royal Family, I think he trained in the Egyptian Religions, thou he was hebrew, his god was Egyptian? His knowledge and wisdom came from the Egyptian schools of thought?.

You are right that caution needs to be taken when interpreting scriptures, So I have not made any conclusion yet, and look for different perpectives.

There were those who spoke falsely before Pharaoh and had Gods hostile towards the land, therefore the people cried out for their blood to appease it. But it was not these strange priests who put strife in the land instead of peace, for one was even of the household of Pharaoh and walked among the people unhampered.

Ive heard that before, someone told me that America has the most cults in the world.

Ive also heard that the bible is intermingled with many other gods, what if the god of the bible or jesus is an Egyptian. Just a possibility?

It does seem to make perfect sense, thats why im cautious, how much deception is America built on?

Re: why does it say the Lord was crucified in Egypt?
In Hebrew the word for Egypt is Mitsraim. The root of this word is TSAR or TSADDI, RESH. Tsaddi, Resh is TYRE pronounced TSUR. PRINCE of TYRE is depicted in Ezekial as Lucifer.see Ezekial 28. It was the King of Tyre who furnished the Blueprint and masons to build the Temple of Solomon. Now do you understand why the FreeMasons have such an intrigue with the Temple of Solomon. And yes America is the reincarnation of Old Egypt (MITSRAIM).

Its pretty clear OP, the Roman Empire occupied Palestine at that time when Jesus walked amongst mortals and immortals (Mark 9:1), the Romans worshiped all the Greek Gods (sodom) and relished in the Horus deity characteristics given to Dionysus (egypt) which afterwards those attributes were passed down to Jesus when their persecution to wipe-out the Christians failed and therefore decided to control the Christian faith by incorporating Christian belief into their PAGAN ways, and succeeded. Well done Constantine, well done.

The Romans destroyed Jerusalem and took the temple treasures to Roma to the House of their gods. This is why in Christianity we have a mixure of truth and falsehood.
The tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evi.
When the King of Babylon destroyed Solomons Temple he also took the temple treasure into the House of his gods mixing the truth with falsehood.
When you eat from this tree you shall surely die.
See this tree and it's symbolism in Daniel 4 and then remember the Garden of Eden.

OP, you highlighted the wrong part... this tells you why.

it's FIGURATIVE

"which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified."

It's Jerusalem but is figuratively called Sodom an Egypt due to the sinful nature of the people (all people).

It was actually the opposite. In Christ we are not under man's laws. We are only under God's laws. God has a lot less laws than man. Christianity was a threat to the state. The state was God. (You were not expected to pray FOR Caesar. You were expected to pray TO Caesar.) This is why Christianity was hated by so many rulers. They didn't give a rat's patootie where you soul went.

The true teachings of Christianity were corrupted and there aren't too many preachers out there today who teach the Judeo-Christian version which is false teachings that Jesus warned about.

Our forefathers understood this.
