District 9: new movie genre! Ultra-Horror-Gore-Sci-Fi !
((the title of my post is just fiction, but very accurate, nonetheless.))

SO. I just saw District 9 about 2 hours ago and WHOA.

WHOA.....

There is more body-bursting gore PLUS on-screen human-duress-horror in this movie than in Planet Terror, Clockwork Orange or any other super-ULTRA-gory movie you can think of.

UN. REAL. ...and I am a personal fan of gory horror movies, and thought i'd seen it all.

But still, the movie is REALLY good in a philosophical, human rights, and sci-fi adventure kind of way. it's a very entertaining film (feels a little long...) that has some weak spots in logic, but is very intelligent and deep.

--- but oh boy ---- you'd better avoid this film completely if you're squeamish or afraid to see ULTRA-Extreme human & animal body-gore terror-violence. that description may sound corny, but i don't know how else to describe it. it's m o r e than intense.

Especially the section of the film that shows military-black-project-secret bunker weapon experiments is TERRIFYING BEYOND ANYTHING I'VE EVER SEEN ON FILM. IT WAS "UNCOMFORTABLY" REALISTIC AND FRIGHTENING TO WATCH.

a HUMAN MAN SHOWN FOR AT LEAST (what feels like) 15 MINUTES IN ALMOST SNUFF-FILM TYPE TERROR + PANIC!

honestly -- i'm surprised District 9 doesn't classify as an "X" rating.

It completely out-does any film in my recent memory with it's --harrowing-- psychological, extreme-human-duress + explosive / deforming body-gore violence displayed on-screen!

If you've seen it - do you agree with my take on District 9?

Or am i just being a baby about the gore & horror of it ???

damned popcorn

p.s. how about that MNU (U.N.) patch? a upside down pentagram, a goat's head with the capstone-missing. ...... interesting......

I had a few criticisms of the plot, but then I am picky when it comes to films with holes in the story of plot.

It did have holes in it.
Like if the aliens were smart enough to make a huge ass ship
and awsome weapons that only they could use. Then they should have been able to leave along time ago.Look at Chris (Alien) and all his computer shit he had going on.
I still liked it though. But thats just me I like Alien movies.

there seemed to be undertones of racism throughout the entire movie. Making the aliens seem like blacks. Blacks even hung around the aliens...

nah it wasn't.

this must be your first alien movie or something.

it wasn't even revealed why the aliens just stopped there.

"Their" technology in a garbage dump, made the mothership fly home. They could just flown a dropship down to the area to find those pieces and take it back to the ship.
Too many untied ends.

one reason why they stopped there should have been because they were fleeing an ultra violent race of aliens that deplored insectoids, maybe coz the insectoids were found lurking in other territory, and ended up on hiding on earth like a refuge planet or something like that, so that way the movie could of had a 2nd installment of an alliance of human and insectoid VS the ultra violent aliens, with some absolute insane alien tech war etc.

meh, it was like a 100w light bulb running on brown-out power.

Oh, there was obviously racist undertones in the film- the aliens were treated [at the beginning at least] as blacks were during the worst of the Apartheid regime in S.A.

Did anyone else who saw it think the secret military weaponry sequence was incredibly disturbing?

It made me squirm in my seat, big time....
