Under collectivism, the state owns your children. Court orders Christian child into government education 10-year-old's 'vigorous' defense of her faith condemned by judgeBob Unruh © 2009 WorldNetDaily A 10-year-old homeschool girl described as "well liked, social and interactive with her peers, academically promising and intellectually at or superior to grade level" has been told by a New Hampshire court official to attend a government school because she was too "vigorous" in defense of her Christian faith. The decision from Marital Master Michael Garner reasoned that the girl's "vigorous defense of her religious beliefs to [her] counselor suggests strongly that she has not had the opportunity to seriously consider any other point of view." The recommendation was approved by Judge Lucinda V. Sadler, but it is being challenged by attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund, who said it was "a step too far" for any court. The ADF confirmed today it has filed motions with the court seeking reconsideration of the order and a stay of the decision sending the 10-year-old student in government-run schools in Meredith, N.H. United States 10/20/2012 01:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: New Hampshire court orders home-schooled child into government school. Not because she was receiving an inferior education - she tested above average Hypothetical:
The couple down the street have ten children. They home school them all and on the surface seem to be reasonable people, both with high level degrees, and seem to really want the best education for their children.
The only catch is that they believe that their shared imaginary friend should be the guiding principle of their little ones lives.
We can call him Marco.
Now, there isn't anything wrong with belief in Marco. He's presented as a good guy over all. But the state feels that, since there is no actual proof that Marco exists (even though the parents credit him with having made everything and hold that out as proof, becoming irrationally angry when challenged on the subject...)the government feels that if may be a little improper for the ten kids to be given only that information and no other view of the world.
So, the question:
Should these people be allowed to teach their children only about Marco or not?
*Yes, the parallel is clear, but don't answer based on the idea that "Marco" could be exchanged for "God" "gods" or "Jesus" try to answer it only based on the idea that it's this couples imaginary and unprovable friend.
What do you say to that?
Should they have the "right" to teach them such things or not? |
