Re: Lets find out if Astrology is realQuote

im no astrology expert, but i believe each day would be a different experience for each individual, since we all have different signs for each planet, so when one person may have a good aspects for one day, it may be a bad day for someone with different signs.

Extremely complicated.

I tried to study it for a time, but realized it would take YEARS just to learn the basics. Plus, the size of the volumes made me cringe (and I love to read! lol).

Lets see:12 asstrollogical(sic) signs for 6.5billion people
its like half billion people must been in the same "predicted " situation each day. If you have a least three brain cells you can see this is a grand scam(IIRC astrology is even older than religion). Well, in these half a billion you CAN find some people who fit the "prediction" since it always vague enough and fit the person's sign. Its not like you're unique "prediction" is occurring to you ONLY. Conclusion? Its targeted to gullible idiots who want "predictions".

Re: Lets find out if Astrology is realQuote

there may only be 12 signs, but there are other parameters other than your typical sun sign. there is also moon, ascendant, venus, mars, jupiter, midheaven i think is another and so on and so on, so its far more complicated than just 12 archetypes

Ahh -- you're ignorant of true astrology. You're thinking horoscopes; there's a world of difference between the two.

Personalized charts tell extreme amounts of information; it's amazing how accurate they are.

sounds like you have little understanding of astrology, if you're basing your opinion on sun signs and horoscopes from magazines, then yes that is pretty much dumbed down bullshit for teeny girls

Find Grant Lewi's book "Heaven Knows What."

Grant Lewi predicted his own death, and did not make any appointments the month before.

Personalized charts are for particularly gullible retards who have money, so that the astrologer (use the same 12 signs and adding more charts with planets) can scam far more than newspaper horoscope.
Here is list of such scams in context:

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 709018

Studies have repeatedly failed to demonstrate statistically significant relationships between astrological predictions and operationally-defined outcomes.[1][54] Effect size tests of astrology-based hypotheses conclude that the mean accuracy of astrological predictions is no greater than what is expected by chance. For example, when testing for cognitive, behavioral, physical and other variables, one study of 2000 astrological "time twins" born within minutes of each other did not show a celestial influence on human characteristics.[55] It has been suggested that other statistical research is often wrongly seen as evidence for astrology due to uncontrolled artifacts.[56]

Experimental psychologists have suggested that several different effects can contribute to perception of astrological accuracy. One observed tendency is known as the confirmation bias, whereby people who are given a set of multiple predictions tend to remember more of the accurate predictions ("hits") than the inaccurate ones ("misses"). Consequently, people tend to recall the set of predictions as being more accurate than it actually was. A second psychological phenomenon is known as the Forer effect, which refers to a tendency for individuals to give high accuracy ratings to descriptions of their personality that are presented to them as tailored specifically for them, but are in fact vague and general enough to apply to a wide range of people. When astrological predictions turn out to correspond with some phenomena but not with others, the recollected integrity of these predictions may stem in part from confirmation bias. When predictions use vague language, their individualized appearance may be partially attributable to the Forer effect.

The French psychologist and statistician who devoted his life to the attempt to demonstrate the validity of certain fundamentals of astrology, Michel Gauquelin, wrote that he had found correlations between some planetary positions and certain human traits such as vocations.[57] Gauquelin's most widely known concept is the Mars effect, which denotes a correlation between the planet Mars occupying certain positions in the sky more often at the birth of eminent sports champions than at the birth of ordinary people. A similar idea is explored by Richard Tarnas in his work Cosmos and Psyche, in which he examines correspondences between planetary alignments and historically significant events and individuals. Since its original publication in 1955, the Mars effect has been the subject of critical studies and skeptical publications which aim to refute it,[58][59][60] and of studies in fringe journals used to support or expand the original ideas.[61][62] Gauquelin's research has not received mainstream scientific notice.

And what about you, yourself?

You can quote Wikipedia all you want, but that means nothing. Personal experience says it all.
