tkwasny User ID: 748659 United States 09/18/2009 07:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Basically all of my family except for my sister are in other states, closest being about 900 miles away. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 718402I've thought about this, when SHTF and there are road blocks set up along major highways and quarantines of cities, it will be impossible for me to make it out to them. Guess I would just have to hunker down and hope they make it... Who else is in a situation like this? I'll bet everyone that has typical, or greater, sized family. I keep my relatives faith alive that I'm a nut case and need to have enough of everything to survive totally alone from planet Earth for about 30 days, every time we get together. That's all anyone can do is put the imprint in their minds and hope they are infected enough to take at least 10% prep. action. If you go out on some hollywood-style rescue mission when the SHTF, you'll be picked off real quick and easy just to find out they've been long ago picked off in the first wave. Sux, but sometimes reality does.... or nothing's going to happen and you have the insurance "policy" so you can sleep at night knowing you did the best you could and none of this is your fault. No messiah complexes please, your just a regular person like everyone else. Last Edited by tkwasny on 09/18/2009 07:02 AM |

My daughter is in Oklahoma and my son is a Marine. From what I understand they both will most likely have to take the shot. Now what? I have preached, talked till I was blue in the face and sent as much info as I could find. However it doesn't seem like it made a difference. I know for a fact my mother will take it ... because shes a sheep. My dad will take it because he kind of just goes along. I am sure one of my brothers, his wife and four kids will take it. I am still hoping my other brother will not take it. So I guess I am on my own. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 755536 United States 09/18/2009 07:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I remember on 9/11 we lived just outside Boston at the time and I worked from home. I immediately went to pick up our son at daycare and I had to get on one of the major roads going into Boston ... the traffic coming the other way (leading out of Boston) was totally backed up .. people were trying to get out .. there was a sense of panic and chaos. Like one of the other posters stated .. Hopefully nothing happens but given all the weird stuff going on, I'd rather be prepared. We keep a lot more food on hand in our house and I just do the FIFO method .. first in, first out .. so stuff isn't just sitting there going bad. I still think I should get a lot more water .. and large bags of rice .. and MRE's .. plus a water purification system. I call all of this a 'shift in reality.' |

Yup... I will have problems convincing my sister though...she is going to college right now at a major university here and I don't think she will want to leave. In that case, if she won't leave, I will probably never see the rest of my family again, at least not for a VERY long time. That is if they make it... |

Our family members always seem to agree with the tirade of facts we provide them with through emails, phone calls and occasional get togethers. I guess it's true about everyone having to make "a personal choice" in the future....and if the facts are to be belived....2/3 of this world will make the WRONG choice. Staggering, isn't it! |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 718402 United States 09/18/2009 07:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I work just outside Boston Massachusetts about 30 miles from my home in New Hampshire. If TSHTF during the day and highways become either instantly parking lots or the government locked them down, my plan is to walk the 30 miles. I have a small BOB in work with old hiking boots, Rad pills, lighter, water, energy bars, N-95 masks, GPS and ponchos. at a 4mph walk it would take me about 10 hours with a couple stops. Worst case I would have to cross the border through the woods at night. I am somewhat familiar with the woods at the border as I have hunted it and riden 4 wheelers through them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 168282Better be careful, and I hope you have some good quality camo and a good good that is suited for both CQC and long range. Being out during the day in a SHTF situation would be VERY difficult. Especially if you are spotted... |
