Re: I know the bible well - ask me a question that you have never understood about it or christianity
One of their beliefs is salvation after death. All you have to do is send in the information to Salt Lake City Temple, (along with a donation I think) and someone will "stand in" for the person who has died and be baptized for them.
That way, you can live like the devil and still go to heaven.

Whereas you believe that once saved, always saved, and actions don't matter, lest ye should boast. (Everyone needs to be saved no matter how good a person they are.) So you too can live like the devil and still go to heaven. There's no difference really.

I agree. We all need to be saved and yes I do believe in once saved always saved with the emphasis on ONCE. Salvation is not a license to sin. IF man say that we sin not, we make God a liar.

But there is a huge differance in saying once saved (actually saved) and then saying a man dead 10 years can now be saved if someone stands in for him to be baptized, dont ya think?

I would love to have faith and be a Christian. However every time I give my best effort I cannot get past one big conflict. How in the world does jesus/ god accept sending someone in Africa/remote village in austrilia, etc who had never heard te name Jesus justify sending them to hell because they did not accept Jesus as their lord and saviour?

This could very easily apply to communist countries ( china, Russia), Arab/Muslim countries. Those that never get the choice to accept Jesus. How does a lving god send those folks to hell? l

Creative power.

If we can postulate evolutions claim that every bit of matter in the universe was inclosed in an electon, and BOOM, in one second all the planets and stars and stuff were there, I see no problem for God doing something like that by just Speaking a Word.

I can tell you that without question, this is the number one question I am always asked.

May I tell you first of all that your first concern should be about yourself. YOU are responsible for your choices and YOU have to live with the consequences of those choices.

Then the Bible makes it very clear that there can be no salvation apart from faith in the Lord Jesus. So, how do we bridge this gap?

Romans 1:20 tells us that the
"invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse".

In other words, Creation, nature itself gives witness to the heathen (Those who have not heard the gospel) that because there is a Creation in front of them, they realize that it got here in some way so then they are guilty.

But we also must realize that God is just and righteous.
God will judge the heathen with righteousness and the judgment of the heathen will be infinitely lighter than it will be for those who have heard the gospel and rejected it. There are different degrees of punishment in hell.

What caused the big bang is still a big question.
You say God, at least it's an answer.

The usual follow up of course is "what created God?"

But I don't like that question, always find that it is asked as a smartass question, better follow up is "what is God?"

Mormon Baptism for the Dead

I would love to have faith and be a Christian.  However every time I give my best effort I cannot get past one big conflict.  How in the world does jesus/ god accept sending someone in Africa/remote village in austrilia, etc who had never heard te name Jesus justify sending them to hell because they did not accept Jesus as their lord and saviour?

This could very easily apply to communist countries ( china, Russia), Arab/Muslim countries.  Those that never get the choice to accept Jesus.  How does a lving god send those folks to hell? l
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 710867

Mormonism (or the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) teaches that baptism by water is a necessary ordinance for people to return to God their Heavenly Father. Mormons assert that the ordinance must be performed in the proper way and with the authority of Christ's priesthood.

Many people have died without receiving a valid baptism, and they cannot undergo this precious ritual as mere spirits. "Because all on the earth do not have the opportunity to accept the gospel during mortality, the Lord has authorized baptisms performed by proxy for the dead. Therefore, those who accept the gospel in the spirit world may qualify for entrance into God's kingdom" (See Guide to the Scriptures). One thing that should be made perfectly clear about Mormon baptisms for the dead is that each deceased soul has the personal choice to accept or reject it. There is nothing in Mormonism that states that the person who is being baptized by proxy must accept this ordinance; he or she is simply given the opportunity to choose.

Baptisms for the dead can only be performed in Mormon temples. Elder Mark E. Petersen explained this requirement: "Always a center of interest is the baptismal font. In each of the temples this font rests upon the backs of twelve stone or bronze oxen, following in this, as in other particulars, the pattern given by the Prophet Joseph Smith as he instituted temple building in his day under the direction of the Lord.

Why is there a baptismal font in the temple? Cannot people be baptized anywhere? The living, yes. But the font in the temple is for vicarious baptisms performed in behalf of the dead.

This is a practice that has been observed throughout the history of Christ's Church. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:29: "Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?" Such rhetorical questions teach much. A just and righteous God would not punish the millions of people who have lived on the earth and never had the opportunity to learn of the gospel and baptism. The Savior Himself declared that He was God of both the living and the dead, 'for all live unto him' (Luke 20:38), showing that He regards them all in the same light.

Elder Petersen further explained: "People who die without having been taught the gospel may yet be saved in the presence of God. This is made clear in the scriptures. But how? That is the question. Jesus preached to the dead. The Apostle Peter taught this in his day, saying that after the death of the Savior, and while his body lay in the tomb, the Lord, as a spirit, went to the realm of the dead and there preached to the spirits of the people who previously had lived on the earth. (1 Pet. 3:18–20.) Then he gives us the reason for this preaching: 'For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.' (1 Pet. 4:6.)." Elder Petersen went on to explain what these passages teach us:

(1) Jesus was a Personage of both spirit and flesh, like all of us.
(2) When Jesus went to the realm of the dead, he was still himself, an individual, the humble "carpenter from Nazareth," although a spirit divested of his body of flesh and bones which had been crucified.
(3) The dead—even those who died in the flood—also were intelligent persons, still individuals, although spirits like Jesus himself.
(4) These dead were so much in possession of their reason and their faculties that they could hear the gospel like men in the flesh although they lived in a world of spirits, and they were alive and alert and could use discretion in accepting or rejecting the teachings of Christ.
(5) Jesus taught them the gospel, which was their opportunity for salvation.
(6) Having heard the gospel, they might accept it or reject it and thus be "judged according to men in the flesh." As they did accept it, they could then "live according to God in the spirit" just as the scripture indicated.

Mormons are therefore very zealous about collecting and submitting the names of their ancestors for this great, saving work. Baptism for the dead in Mormon temples gives those who would have embraced Christ and His Church the opportunity to do so after death. It is a wonderful gift granted by a merciful God. - [link to www.ldschurchtemples.com]

When I say "mistake" I am actually useing the words of the Evolutionists who xplain the Big Bang. According to them, evolution required a long series of positive and upward "MUTATIONS". But in the reality of science, mutations are not benefical but are in fact harmful to living things and almost universally end in death. Mutations, deformities LESSEN the survival potential of living things not strengthen it. Even if there were a few good nutations that took place, the incredible number of damaging mutations would utterly overwhelm the good ones.

When you read the evolutionts explination, and we all shoud, what youe see are a lot of, "we THINK that this is the way it went". "We BELIEVE it is this way".
"It SHOULD react in this manner". The truth to me seems to be that they really have no clue other than they KNOW THAT IT WAS NOT GOD DRIVEN, so anything other than God is acceptable as an explination.

Having no modern medial tools as we have today, Jewish law and tridition said that 3 days were required to PROVE that one was actually dead and not passed out or in a comma etc.
That is way Jesus waithe 4 day to go to Lazarus. 3 + 1 to prove a point.

In Paradise/Abrahams bosom of Sheol
Luke 16 and Ephesians 4.

There is no such thing as Purgatory. It is a Catholic only
church teaching derived from the Ancient Babylonian Mysetry from Gen. 10.

Bible References about The Book of Mormon
Thread: Isn't it time for a third testament? (Page 4)

... Psalm 85:11
"Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven."

This verse is the psalmist's reference to the gold plates being buried in a hillside by the prophet, Moroni, in approximately 400 AD. In 1823, Moroni led Joseph Smith to where the plates were hidden. In 1827, Joseph was finally allowed to remove the plates. He translated them by the power of God into what is now known as the Book of Mormon - named after the prophet, Mormon. Truth literally and poetically sprung up from the earth.

Isaiah 29: 4, 11-14
"And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust."

"And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid."

Verse 4 speaks of the destruction of Christ's believer's in the Americas, and their records on the gold plates being buried. Their words came up with a whisper out of the dust.

Verses 11-14 are very prophetic and directly linked with LDS history. Joseph Smith copied some characters engraved on the plates on to a piece of paper. He gave them to Martin Harris to bring to a language expert in New York for verification. The expert identified the writing as Reform Egyptian, but quickly recanted after Martin explained where the writings came from. The expert's exact response was "I cannot read a sealed book". This is almost word for word with verse 11. There is an obvious connection in verse 12. Joseph Smith only had a 6th grade education. He was not a "learned man". Through the power of the Holy Ghost, Joseph was able to translate the writings into English. Since then God has produced a "marvelous work and a wonder" among this people — restoring and spreading the priesthood and true gospel of Jesus Christ across the Earth.

Ezekiel 37: 15-20
"The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand. And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes."

The "sticks" being referred to are the records of God's covenant people. The two sticks are companions to each other making one. The stick of Judah is obviously the Bible, since the Jews are through the tribe of Judah. The stick of Joseph referred to is the Book of Mormon. Lehi, the first prophet of Book of Mormon, was a descendant of the tribe of Joseph. Today the Bible and Book of Mormon are companion books in the hands and before the eyes of people today.

John 10: 15-16
"As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd."

Unless you're one of those Da Vinci Code types, you know that Jesus didn't teach anyone outside the Middle East during His Mortal Ministry. So who the heck are these "other sheep" that are part of His fold, that He will teach in person?

After His Resurrection, Christ visited his followers in the Americas and taught them His Gospel as He had in the Middle East. ... - [link to www.moroni10.com]

Returning to the bible scriptures from whence this all began, before you chose to attack the messenger, rather than provide YOUR explanation what these scriptures mean?

... The next highest is the Terrestrial Kingdom. This will be where those who accepted Christ, but didn't endure to the end and never fulfilled all the saving ordinances will go. The highest kingdom, where God the Father lives, is called the Celestial Kingdom. This will be the world where all those who accepted Christ, endured to the end and received all the saving ordinances will go.

The concept of three kingdoms makes the judgments of God more fair and just. This way, people who lived good lives but never fully accepted the gospel of Christ will still receive a fitting reward, and those who long suffered, sacrificed and endured to the end will receive the highest possible reward, Eternal Life with God.

Here are the verses in the bible that make reference to these different Kingdoms.

Matthew 13:43
"Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear."

I included this reference because it's almost an esoteric reference to the Celestial Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is the Celestial Kingdom. The Celestial Kingdom is referred to symbolically in the scriptures as the Glory of the Sun. Jesus, teaching in parables, says in this verse that the righteous in the Kingdom of God the Father will shine like they were the sun, or part of the Glory of the Sun. What makes me think this is an esoteric reference is that He ends it by saying "who hath ears to hear, let him hear,"like the believers should understand his subtle Celestial reference.

John 14:2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

Notice Jesus isn't just saying "My Father's only Kingdom is a big place". He is alluding, if not outright saying, that there are many mansion, ergo, different kingdoms in store for us. Like He said, if this were not so He would have told us.

2 Corinthians 12:2
"I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven."

In this verse Paul is teaching of a third heaven, implying that there is more than one eternal destination, and hierarchical glories.

1 Corinthians 15:40-41
"There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory."

Paul is teaching about the resurrection. In verse 40 he teaches that people will be resurrected into one of three bodies: a Celestial body, a Terrestrial body, and assumable a Telestial Body. These body we're resurrected into will correspond with the glory and kingdom we receive. Notice the next verse blatantly teaches that there is one glory of the sun (The Celestial Kingdom), another glory of the moon (The Terrestrial Kingdom), and a glory of the stars (The Telestial Kingdom). The sun, moon, stars is obviously symbolic of the hierarchy in glory of the kingdoms. - [link to www.moroni10.com]

How did God make the universe?

HE, Jesus spoke the Word and out of nothing came everything.

“You ask the learned doctors why they say the world was made out of nothing; and they will answer, ‘Doesn’t the Bible say He created the world?’ And they infer, from the word create, that it must have been made out of nothing.

Now, the word create came from the [Hebrew] word baurau which does not mean to create out of nothing; it means to organize; the same as a man would organize materials and build a ship.” - [link to www.lds.org]

You refer to the MORMON Ecxplinations of Scriptures as expounded by J. Smith and other "prophets". These are all Mormon dogma and are not in any way valid.

If all the Christians are wrong, 100% wrong about God and Jesus and heaven and hell, when we die what have we lost???
Absoluly nothing. If Death ends it all, then all is ended. Nothing lost and nothing gained.

BUT WHAT IF THEY ARE RIGHT AND YOU ARE WRONG?????

You will have LOST everything and gained nothing.
We will be in heaven, PAradise.
You will be in HELL.

I mean, from your point of view, it is a 50-50 equation is it not. Eternity is too long for me to gamble on just 50-50 odds. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

MC

Absolutly and thanks for asking!!!!!

Jesus makes it plain that there will be other sheep that will come along afterwards. These sheep can be assured of being saved just like those who were there to hear Jesus speak. You see, He came the first time to the nation of Israel, John 1:11, but when they rejected Him, He turned to the Gentiles. Therefore, anyone who needs salvation can rest assured that Jesus will provide that salvation when faith is placed in Him - John 1:12.)

When faith is placed in Jesus Christ, salvation is always the result. This salvation is complete, Heb. 7:25; and it is eternal, vrs. 28-29. The good news is this: Jesus died for every person in the world, including you. If you will come to Him right now and will place your trust in Him, He will save your soul. You see, the salvation that Jesus provides is open to all. He is still the Door and He is still the Good Shepherd. Like the shepherd of Luke 15:4-7, He is still out on the mountains of sin searching for those who are lost and away from the fold. All who will respond to Him in faith will be brought into the flock and will be saved, Acts 16:31.

There is no question that Jesus is the Good Shepherd. The only question that remains at this point is this: Do you know the Shepherd? How you answer that question determines where you can expect to spend eternity. Your answer to that question will make all the difference between Heaven and Hell. If you know the Shepherd, then you can rejoice in the fact that He will ever be with you and that He will ever watch over you. If you do not know Him, then I invite you to come to Him right now. You do not have to, nor should you want to wait. Delay is dangerous! Come to Jesus today and He will save your soul. He will place you in the flock of God. He will save you from the wrath of God. He will give you a new life and a new birth. Will you come to Him?

Will you reject the Mormon dogma and lies and come to Christ for the free and full pardon of your sin???

Mormon Baptism for the Dead

I would love to have faith and be a Christian.  However every time I give my best effort I cannot get past one big conflict.  How in the world does jesus/ god accept sending someone in Africa/remote village in austrilia, etc who had never heard te name Jesus justify sending them to hell because they did not accept Jesus as their lord and saviour?

This could very easily apply to communist countries ( china, Russia), Arab/Muslim countries.  Those that never get the choice to accept Jesus.  How does a lving god send those folks to hell? l

I became a Christian at age 17 or 18, that was 30 years ago. It is real, and it changed my life, kept me out of trouble more times than I can count.

I have had angelic interventions that protected me - believe it or not

but i dont really want to go into that too much

I know the bible very well - not by like verse memory but by understanding what it means.

My prayers get answered usually immediately -

Feel free to ask me any reasonable question about the bible or what christianity is

Bible bashers might find another thread to get into, I wont respond to those. There are plenty of those threads

I know the new testament well, I don't get into the old as much. But in revelation, can you answer this? Revelation 20 where he says that the dead lived not again until the second resurrection. Does that mean that the people killed during the tribulation period get to rule and reign and people who died before the trib will get raised after the thousand year reign>? This was explained by a preacher to me long ago. But I forgot!! Please explain it. Who gets to rest for a thousand years?

Oh, never mind. I don't talk to Satanic Mormons. Hey everybody...did you know that there is a DEMON named MORMO? Don't get involved with the mormon cult. There is an allseeing eye of Lucifer aBOVE THE DOOR at the church in Utah. Also they are a false religeon that came from the MASONS and the illuminati. They are the same as the Muslims, they think they will have 100 wives in heaven and this religeon is based on pure animal lust. A man in the bible asked Jesus about a man who died that had been married to 7 wives in his lifetime, they kept dying. Jesus told him he was an idiot and that we are married to noone in heaven, we will be like the angels.
Joseph Smith was a sorcerer and murderer. Also, many people in Utah have been reported murdered after leaving the Mormon church. This is all documented on the video called "THE GODMAKERs"
A former satanist said that he went to a mormon temple and the rituals were no different than the satanic rituals. You immitate that they will slit your throat if you tell any secrets. Nothing CHRISTIAN about secrecy. Fellow, you need to find yourself A REAL church. Hinkley had molested children also. THey own the media and all is hushed. Watch out people. This guy is deceived!!
•One of their beliefs is salvation after death.

Who was Jesus talking too when he said: "And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power." [MARK 9.1]

Jesus was talking to them, they did not die, they were standing there alive on the day of Pentecost and they saw with their own eyes believers, including themselves, being filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the power of the kingdom of God. They saw the "kingdom of God."

Jesus said to beware of false prophets. Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were evil masons. Beware people!

Re: I know the bible well - ask me a question that you have never understood about it or christianity

You probably know your added fake bible better. That's why your so confused. Beware everyone! There is a demon named MORMO and there's no confusion as to what he is stationed over.
Jesus is the Messiah, not the false prophet Joseph Smith who was a mason and a sorcerer.

why does everyone concentrate on the jesus dying part and not the loaves and fishes part?
Jesus always knew he was going to die, didnt he?

Re: I know the bible well - ask me a question that you have never understood about it or christianity
Please Explain this scripture !! Joh 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

It was a Jewish belief that said the angels came and stirred the water in the pool of Beththesda and the 1st one in the pool would be healed of what so ever was wrong with him.

What sort of pool was it ? Why couldn't the the man roll into the pool ! Now you use the word stirred and king James called it troubled ! Was the angel in the water or other ??

My apologies. I have gave you a quick answer. Allow me to elaborabe for you.

John 5:1-3
"After this there was a feast of the Jews and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of ipotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool and troubled the water, whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had".

The fourth verse is not in the better manuscripts. That does not mean I do not believe in the inerrancy of the Scriptures, because I do! I only say that to let you know that we should heed scholarship, fundamental scholarship which says that it was not in the better manuscripts.

What does that mean??? It simply means that a scribe put this verse in as a word of explination. I believe it is factual and it helps us to understand why this large crowd was gathered there. To me, it is not an important thing and actually helps us in our understanding of WHY.

So..........Now we know why they were there. The belief was that an angel "troubled"(means to STIR UP) the water at a certain time. The angle was not in the water, he just moved it around.

All of the people there were "lame, blind, halted". They could not move quickly. Since this man had been there for 38 years I would say that he was the worst of the lot.

But the real lesson here is that Jesus wanted this man to get his eyes off of the water and onto HIM. He had the condition of most of us today. We sit around watching the pool waiting for something to happen. Churches are full of people waiting for some great sweeping emotion to take them over.

Then there are those who put off coming to Christ waiting for a more convient time or trying to find more proof of His existance.

I hope this answers your question.

Praise The Holy Of Holy :: I find your answer spirit led !! I enjoyed it quite well ! Tomorrow I will ask a spirit led Preacher the same question and compare the answer ! Yes keep your eyes on Jesus !! Amen

God bless you my friend. I am pleased that the Lord used me to speak to you and He gets all of the glory, Praise the Lord!

This is pretty much correct and we all do walk the journey of man or God. There is always the living waters and we are the waters, if that makes sense.

The disabled man was taken to the pool, since the age of five and that is when most people stop growing emotionally, at the age of five, because they are locked into pain.

With the healing of the past and total surrender to the "Source" we can be whole again and find our true essence within and raise our frequency to the a higher 'christ' consciousness. Don't look for it outside of you.
