Strange Light Formation that Morphed in the Sky Tonight

I i, Last night when I was driving around 8: 35 I saw a beam of light come out if nowhere. It was a crystal CLEAR night . The light was a bright white / tint of blue, beam. (sort of foggy, misty), the shape of the beam was a triangle ( with the point up , facing space and the widest part fanning down at the road and woods. It didn't last long enough for me to get it on camera. I called lou and he said that there are people all over reporting that same sighting... The video UFO low Hackettstown 9/19/09 id NOT the same FLASHLIGHT beam I saw.....I wish I could pull over in time to catch the BEAM....Check out the plasma ball, morphing plane and triangles on video youtube type in mikie 8865.

Sounds pretty strange. Was it just light you were seeing? Did you see any movement or any kind of solid object?
I ask because I have seen some lights from those search light set ups at the malls and they have some strange effects. You said it was a clear night, which makes the ground lights less likely as there is less atmosphere to reflect off of. well good luck in your search for an answer. ther are a lot of knowledgeble people here and out there to help. You may want to check Mufon and other reporting sites for UFOs to see if anyone in your area reported anything.

i saw the same thing yesterday in queens new york it was crazy

If you hadn't heard by now, NASA claims it was their weather rocket and it could be seen by the eastern/northeastern U.S.

I live in NW Pennsylvania & my friend & I saw it too. I've researched everything & can not find an explanation. I thought for sure there would be something in the news about it because at the time there was a plane flying right under it which gave me an idea of how far up this light was. The fact that when it disappeared it looked like it was moving in a trapezoid pattern was the thing that really creeped me out. The light seemed brighter than the sun & after it disappeared it left what looked like to be some form of smoke? I could not see what this bright light was coming from either but my one buddy that was in a different location at the time said he could see a saucer shaped miscellaneous structure above it. If anyone hears anything else let me know.

I saw this perhaps even closer than many of you. I live in Staten Island. It was practically overhead, and took up most of the part of the sky I happened to look up at.

The really odd thing (amongst many here) is that it was a crystal clear, cloudless sky. And this thing appeared as if it were a light poking right through the fabric of the sky itself.

It was the strangest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. I am a hardcore studier of many things. This beats them all.

It hung for 30 seconds, motionless. It was not glancing the atmosphere. It did not move, undulate, or warp in any way. Just absolutely fixed. Until that is, the light above the "beam" mist went up, almost folding in on itself, and the light became more vaporous, and vanished.

Except for the fact that it did not move from it's appearance point in the sky. The mist/beam also shot down from the light point after the light appeared.

When the light finally decided to depart, it folded in on itself.

I think I saw the same thing. It happened about 7:58 PM ET. What I saw was, a light (looked like a star) and a cone like light going towards to the ground. The point of the cone was on the star and the wide part of the cone was towards the ground. The length of the cone was about 5 full moons long. At first I thought it was a plane. But when it started to faded, I thought it went behind a cloud. Then I noticed there were no clouds. It is good to hear someone else saw it too. I saw it looking in the south direction. I live in Farmington, NY.

I saw it as well here in northern rhode island. We were outside sitting around a camp fire and there it was! It never moved or flickered. How can an aircraft just stand still like that? No way it was a rocket!!!!

we saw it far up as worcester mass. fixed in the sky and looked like a flashlight. We thought it was a search helicopter over the woods until we saw a plane go by under it and it was clearly way higher, but still in our atmosphere. It quickly dissipated into nothingness. If it was a rocket, why was it faced towards the ground not the sky, and who turned of the light?

I agree, the 'fixed' quality of it was very strange .. and I was drawn to it ... I really felt like it was a form of communication ... I know that NASA thing was going on, but I truly think this was something else .. something bigger.

Coming from Morgantown, WV here. I was out grilling when my wife gasped, "What the hell is that?" and it was the searchlight/cone shaped light that was shiining down. The light was high in the sky so it wasn't a helicopter. It appeared in the eastern sky and it was very clear that night. It was probably between 7:30 and 7:45pm when it appeared and it lasted for less than a minute before slowly fading out. At the peak of the cone was a bright point of light. The entire formation disappeared at the same time. It wasn't like all else faded and the bright point was the last to go. It all faded out at the same rate. The rocket report makes sense as what that could have been, but who knows. It was pretty cool to watch. We saw it from it's beginning till it's end. It suddenly appeared and then faded out.

on sept 19 at about 840 we saw what looked like a ufo ray coming down and picking something up it lasted for 15 sec and disappered i thought i was going crazy or hallucinating.

My son (11) posted what he preceived, I feel post #755536 nails it. i also was a little freaked out,I'm wondering if we witnessed a star burning out but the irony is, It appeared from nowhere, before it sizzled and burnt out or expolded or whatever.

All along the US Atlantic seaboard, police stations and news desks received reports of strange lights in the sky. John A. Blackwell of Exeter, New Hampshire, snapped this picture of the phenomenon:



"It was an impressive display," says Blackwell. "To the naked eye, it was visible for about a minute."

It looks like a passing comet or a giant, luminous amoeba. But this was pure rocket science. The cloud was created by a Black Brant XII sounding rocket launched from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The rocket released a cloud of electrically-charged aerosols near the top of Earth's atmosphere to investigate the formation of noctilucent clouds or "NLCs." Mysterious NLCs form naturally around Earth's poles during the months of northern summer. On this September evening, researchers decided to see if they could create an artificial NLC at mid-latitudes; it seems to have worked.

Ground-based cameras and radars along the Atlantic coast monitored the experiment while the STPSat-1 satellite watched from Earth orbit. Principal investigators at the Naval Research Lab hope the data will reveal much about the microphysics of noctilucent clouds and the possible role of rockets in creating them.

live in culpeper va saw light about 745pm sept 19. Started out as a point of light then got brighter with a cone of light coming out the bottom then a cloud formed around it and light just disappeared. No noise waited to see if it was a plane or helicopter but no just gone. not a rocket you would have seen fire from rocket, appeared then stayed a few sec then gone.

I and a bunch of my friends were outside enjoying a campfire and saw this too! It was unbelievable!

We were on the beach at Island Beach State Park, NJ, yesterday afternoon, (9/20) around 1PM when we saw a bright white orb in the sky over the water, just sitting there. We watched it about 3 minutes until it just got smaller and smaller and disappeared.

The three of us were just boarding the ferry from Ocracoke going back to Hatteras Island ...

Looked exactly like a cone shaped flashlight beaming down from the sky ... and then it dissipated into a cloud (all this in a cloudless sky). No noise ... freaky! We were sure it was a UFO but we were not even scared because we knew it happened way up in the atmosphere.

Can't believe more people in NC and Virginia didn't see it ... maybe because of cloud cover further inland.
