I sell vintage clothing so I have to deal with all kinds of nasty smells, some REALLY bad.....I have found something that takes all smell out and even leaves the item with a fresh smell.....Get a bag of "PINE" cat litter...this is VERY important it "MOST" be the pine pellets...put the smelly item in a plastic bag or closed container fill the bag and item with the pellets close and let set for a week (check every few days sometimes it only takes a day or two others a couple of weeks....I have saved items that other people thought were useless....I have taken cigerate smoke out of leather that was so bad you could smell the purse from 4 feet away....This WILL work I have not found any smell it wouldn't take out! I have tried all other things, nothing has worked completely other then this....This is my job so I have to have it work right... |

Haven't read all the replies. But here is what cha do.
Buy some nature's miracle. Can get at Pet Smart or other retailer. The secret is buy alot. Then put the shoes in a garbage bag. Soak them thoroughly. Close the bag tightly.
The product has an enzyme that will basically eat the urine.
Not sure how long you need to keep them wet. I'd say at least 24 hours.
Them throw them in the washer and hang to dry.
(Most of pet icky poo products have this enzyme in it.)

Lots of crazy solutions but Natures Miracle is my bet. You'll need to completely saturate the shoes and let them air dry, but it's the only way to eliminate cat urine smell. |

Sorry, I know it's a dumb thread but he saved up and paid like a hundred bucks for these cleats. His Mom's nasty fuck'n cats pissed in and on them and they smell horrible. I told him when they dry we can try baking soda but I'm not sure that will do much.

Remove cat urine odor from laundry. Use this method on your clothing, bedding, rugs or anything you think you can stuff in the washer (not including your cat). Simply add ¼ cup apple cider vinegar along with your normal laundry detergent, start the washer and VOILA!

This works every time...I always leave my shoes outside the back door, and cats always piss on em....
Put the shoes in warm water with about 1/2 cup of cascade dishwashing detergent. Soak for 30 min. The enzymes in it take away all dirt and odors. Got this from a friend of mine who always has stinky boat shoes. |

Although pet icky poo IS a brand. If you read the instructions on other brands and see that you need to soak it -- that would imply that it has enzymes.
Many other brands have the enzymes. Those are just two that came to mind. Hartz also I think. |

Vinegar (white). I'm constantly having to use it on my carpet when the dogs pisssss. It's the only thing that gets the smell out. My mom buys a bunch of fancy products that never work. |

Apple Cider vinegar is fine. Use it full strength from a spray bottle. Your son's shoes will smell like vinegar until they completely dry, but anything's better than smelling like cat urine. If the cat is a male have him neutered. That stopped my cat from spraying - thank God. Good luck. :) |

Better yet.. Sulfuric acid. 1 spray of that on the cat should make it not want to piss on the carpet or out of the litter box anymore. Be sure to wash the acid off of the cat in Solution... Or Not. The cat willl learn his lesson. I know someone whos cats would take a shit and piss anywhere in the house.. and it was like this person did not care... Pissed me the fuck off. |

A mixture of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and dish soap.
I use it to shampoo my dogs after they meet a skunk.
It is the ONLY thing on the planet that will get the smell out on first try.
As for the amounts...Baking soda 2: Hydrogen Peroxide 1: dish soap 1/4.
