It seems that you like some of my questions and I am flattered to have your creative thinking begin to work albeit biblically and not intellectually. This implies that I have succeeded in getting you to start pondering.
Now about your question, you asked what basis do I use for understanding the truth. Well my basis has always been with me and they are: the five senses, my greed, anger and arrogance, my ego and my mind. I constantly keep a close eye on these things and studied why I act and think the way I do at that moment. If I have to die to save someone else's life, I will do it out of my own decision and not because I do it in exchange for the rights to go to heaven. My act will be a selfless act which I am trying hard to achieve. Why trying hard? Because I was born in today's society where everything revolves around materialistic things plus the laziness that is inherent in me. You and me are all subjected to the same conditions but you chose to do it your way which is a lot easier than the way I want to do it. But your way cannot "completely eradicate the evils in you". You will go to your heaven taking all that stuffs with you while I try it leave them all before I die.
So let me ask you. If I am the way I am, what sins do I commit in God's eyes? BTW, don't tell me I've inherited the sins from my so-called Adam and Eve ancestors. Ask the Supreme Court judge of the US to implement this and I guarantee you that you will be the first to object!

So your basis for reason are your senses and your mind. How do you know that those senses trasmit reality to you? What basis do you have for believing that? Do you think that there are logical laws that determine what happens in the universe?
My way is the only way that can completely eradicate the evils in you. The reason is this - every religion in the world other than Christianity is a religion of works. They say - in some way - that men must gain some level of consciousness or do so many good things before they can enter the afterlife or be reincarnated, etc.
What the Bible says is copmletely different. It says that there is a God who is perfect and holy and all-powerful. This God alone is the one who can save. No one can save himself. Because he is perfect, only those who are perfect can be with him. This is why Jesus died to make us perfect before God and to bring us into relationship with him.
No other religion has this, and it's called grace.Grace is the act of God that does what we cannot do. It is the work of God in our lives that overcomes what we could never overcome. My friend, you are striving for something that you can never attain. You can never attain perfection in God's eyes - you must turn to him.
