Does Magnetite Increase Your Psychic Ability?

There is a fascinating new science called Biomagnetism. It is the study of the living magnetic processes in many different lifeforms. Scientists became interested in Biomagnetism after the discovery of the formation of the mineral magnetite in certain animals.

In 1961 Heinz Lowenstam discovered that chitons (a small shelled sea creature) had teeth made of magnetite. This is important because prior to that time magnetite was believed to only have formed as a result of the geological processes related to volcanoes. Scientists were also astonished when a magnetic bacteria was discovered. Eventually magnetite was found in the brain linings of bees, termites, rhinoceros, and most importantly in pigeons and in humans.

It has become a well accepted scientific theory that the very small crystals of magnetite in the brains of homing pigeons can guide the pigeons successfully for long distances. Many believe that these crystals interact with the nervous system like an electric compass. It is also believed that bees have magnetite in their brains to help them navigate as well.

But why is magnetite found in the brains of humans? In 1990 it was found in the cerebral cortex, cerebellum, and in the lining surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Studies of these magnetic crystals have revealed that they are in fact manufactured by the living cells, and arranged in such a way that the maximum magnetic effect is achieved.

With any brand new science there is alot of theories developed and it takes years for them to be validated or discredited. Since the discovery of magnetite in the human brain and in other animals, some scientists are speculating that magnetic brain tissues in animals provide animals with some of their psychic abilities.
For example, it is common for animals to behave abnormally just before a major earthquake, or disaster. Could the magnetite in their brains be responsible for the perception of subtle changes in the earths geomagnetic field?
