But I think she'll make it. She's fed, bathed and sleeping now, nothing but skin and bones; but breathing.
She's too weak to purr.
Life itself is precious.

Re: I just picked up a starving, half-dead kitten.
I had a kitten that I saved like that...I named him Velcro because his nails were so long when he walked on the carpet, that's what it sounded like...best kitty I ever had...he was so dehydrated, he had some poop stuck in his butt...he musta slept for three or four days after we took him in... One of my cats was a rescued kitteh too....he was near death, full of ear mites and parts of his fur was burned by kids trying to set him on fire...He's like my shadow now...follows me around everywhere....bonded for life...

Re: I just picked up a starving, half-dead kitten.
I once did the same thing. Someone threw her out on the highway, mousetrap- I-70 middle of the city. She was crawling. I stopped traffic, pissed off people, until they saw me holding the kitten in my hand in their faces. Fleas hopping all over my lap. She didn't make it. Hope yours does.
Thanks for being a good person. there aren't many left.

Re: I just picked up a starving, half-dead kitten.
"Taffee" is sleeping on my lap, no longer bleeding.
I picked her up about four hours ago; and I just carry her around. She weighs nothing.
I mixed canned catfood with live yogurt and its whey; and she likes the taste.
But she's tired now.
I'll keep you up to date. It's such a privilege to watch a tiny soul come back to life.
Her sister [Albino] is over there on the bed, all stretched out and comfortable. "Villie" [short for Vanilla] is already spoiled rotten, and she's good company for Missie the Dog, who misses her canine pal, Penny.

BLESS YOU. Life is precious.
We did the same thing. Her face had been hit by a car and she was weak, dirty and hungry. She didn't struggle at all during our 30 minute drive home - she just completely gave herself to us.
She did nothing but eat and sleep for six weeks and it also took her that long to get herself cleaned up. But she thanks us every day.
She sleeps by my partner's head every night, so much so that I have to fight for the rest of the bed sometimes, and loves nibbling our toes and lying on our yoga mats when we're trying to do a serious session ! But just seeing her alive and vibrant is such a reward.
Your little friend has a very good chance of making it now that she has found some real love. Much love to you both.

Re: I just picked up a starving, half-dead kitten.
"Taffy" murmurs "meow" if ever I even put her down on anything.
She wants to be carried. Poor baby.
Her sister's a lug already.
I live in an apartment complex; and the mom, a bobtail, had a litter of SEVEN. There are three of us who manage the feral cats here; and the others seemed to be doing okay.
But this one fell through the cracks. You wouldn't believe, how skinny.
But she hollers meekly if I set her down anywhere but my lap.
She's got spirit. (>#( >7( >~SheChaiYAH -- JUST A PROGRAMMED MEAT-SUIT? BANNED for DATA @ ATS, BBC, AstroVera, Open Minds & Military.com. Don't take bans personal.

Re: I just picked up a starving, half-dead kitten.
No, it stopped as soon as I fed her a few times, a formula I make with canned catfood PLUS whey and yogurt, in liquid form, shoved down her throat with an eyedropper.
And I bathed her in lukewarm water a few times. She likes that; it relaxes her.
She's gonna be okay, I think. She's sound asleep at the moment; and if I don't move her and stroke her, she whimpers.
I had NO IDEA what starving a kitten was ABOUT; how painful that is. I'd say she's about 8-10 weeks old, not a tiny kitten, just hungry to the point of death.
Oh, and the fleas! We're dealing with those too.

Tomorrow I'll get batteries for my camera; and you can start seeing the difference between her [thriving] sister and this one, just left out too long.
I should have rescued her at least a couple of days ago, when I had the chance. (>#( >7( >~SheChaiYAH -- JUST A PROGRAMMED MEAT-SUIT? BANNED for DATA @ ATS, BBC, AstroVera, Open Minds & Military.com. Don't take bans personal.

Re: I just picked up a starving, half-dead kitten.
I once found a kitten in a dumpster. Its' bottom jaw was smashed and apparently a ladies devil-spawn of a son had done it and the mom threw it in the trash.. I was a young immature man/boy and did not know what to do , so i put it down as humanely as i knew how. That has been one of my life's major regrets. I have never gotten over the guilt of it or the anger i felt toward that C-nt and her damien of a son. Be kind toward lesser things because surely there are greater beings out there that may do the same to you.
Our best hope for the future is those that care for the ones that cannot care for themselves. Thank you, OP, for doing this. You will be rewarded, ten-fold.

Re: I just picked up a starving, half-dead kitten.
The reason I got into this [cat-rescue] is that my DOG, Missy, is missing her companion, Penny.
And now that I am the feral-cat caretaker on this property, Missy is enjoying cats.
Charlie, the feral male, comes up to Missy and pets himself against her. And she just looks at him, like, "Well, hello to you too!" Missy is a 50-pound Sheperd mix, and so a ten-pound cat companion is kinda silly.
The kittens are a joy to Missy now, who has been lonely since Penny went to live with my Son, Scott.
And so, life goes on. (>#( >7( >~SheChaiYAH -- JUST A PROGRAMMED MEAT-SUIT? BANNED for DATA @ ATS, BBC, AstroVera, Open Minds & Military.com. Don't take bans personal.
