Then Eve eats the apple and clothes her self and it is assumed she feels guilty for being nude or that it was wrong or evil to do so. I find this interesting when compared to the interpretations of the black book and teachings that promote wearing clothing and showing little skin and the missionaries bringing that book to indigenous peoples who were nearly nude and living in the forest and meows (aka the Garden of Eden) and telling them they had to alter their ways. In essence taking away the Eden of the indigenous folks and themselves, by reading past that specific section of the black book and trying to interpret a mish mosh of “memos” or writings of whomever. By setting up the knowledge of good and evil, what the snake did was IMHO create something out of nothing. Primarly the affects of this Apple, created not good and evil, but the knowledge there of, leading to feelings like Guilt, Shame, Remorse, Inadequacy, Judgmentalism, and so on. You bring up a really good point ocncerning the theology of the Garden of Eden. It seems that you think we should allow people to live in nakedness or near-nakedness because they are living in the way in which God originally intended man to live. However, I think you misunderstand what happened at the fall. When man and woman ate of the fruit, they not only became knowledgeable of good and evil, but they became sinful because they had disboeyed God's commands. They had sought to become like God and therefore they were guilty of rebellion against the one true Lord. So when they were ashamed of their nakedness, it wasn't because they had previously been sinning by being naked, but because they felt the shame and helplessness of being sinful and the reaction was to cover themselves. They realized that something was shameful about being exposed in this way. Now it's wrong for us to run around naked because we are all full of sin and therefore our sin will be aroused by each other's nakedness. When missionaries go to other countries they should seek to enlighten them on this shame which will improve their lifestyle. The goal shouldn't be to give them shame without giving them an answer, however. The Bible gives a real way to return to the garden of Eden. It's through the God of the Bible and through the sacrifice of his Son. Ever notice the imagery given in Revelation of the New Jerusalem? It has a tree in it - the tree of life - which was the same tree that was in the garden. God has brought history all the way around and redeemed his people out of their helplessness and brought them back to paradise. That's amazing to look forward to. I hope this is all clear. If not, let me know. :) Last Edited by brandon1234 on 10/01/2009 04:34 PM -Brandon |

If not, let me know. :) What is clear is your interpretation, which differs from mine somewhat. Not to say either is right or wrong just different. This is likely due to my studies regarding the cyclic nature of the cosmos, and repeatedness of similar stories dating back to Leumeria/Atlantis, Egypt (Ra and EA) , philosophy and many other belief systems and religions. ## It seems that you think we should allow people to live in nakedness or near-nakedness because they are living in the way in which God originally intended man to live. More specifically tribal, non-consumer based indigenous fashion. Regarding being nude, the Janis still do it, other belief systems have embraced concepts like no original sin, no sin at all and some specifically dis-include guilt. What I felt or was feeling at the time the revelation came across mind was "How Ironic". I find things like The Hopi worshiping the rainbow snake and the Aboriginals also worshiping something called the rainbow snake (continents apart) quite interesting. And I used to think, oh that's because the continents were one once. But then I heard a story about some bugs on an island and they started climbing on themselves and sleeping that way to appear as a bud so the birds wouldn't eat them. And some of the same bugs, on the mainland far far away started exhibiting the same behavior. |
