Another New Mexican student has died from the H1N1 virus. Tests confirmed Friday evening that a 17-year-old girl from Roswell died from the virus.
Roswell's school superintendent is sending a release to parents, informing them about the Goddard High School student's death.
The district said earlier in the day that it has confirmed H1N1 cases throughout the district, but right now it's too early to know if the 17-year-old girl died of the virus.
Parents wish they had been told earlier.
Parent Rita Vargas said, "It's alarming. I mean, normally you hear about this somewhere else, but here— a student at Goddard. We should be notified— we should've been notified."
The district does not plan to shut down the school. They want students to get vaccinated once the H1N1 vaccine is available.
In the mean time, they ask that any student who feels sick stay home from school.
