My problem with using gold as a hedge against inflation/calamity is there is no real way to verify actual physical gold reserves....for all we know the gold market is another derivative mortgage type of instrument. |

You can't price your gold in silver in dollars because dollars will soon have lots more zeros on them Zimbabwe style.
A silver dollar bought 5 gallons of gas in the early 1900s and today it's roughly the same. So precious metals are really just for storing wealth no matter what happens to the currency.
But, since silver is so highly shorted I think it's stored value will rise from a silver to gold ration of 60, to one that lasted thousands of years 15. |
