I LOVE FREE SPEACH EVEN WHEN I DON'T AGREE WITH IT.

How many people have tried to go to a "CHRISTIAN" site and talk about the bible?

Should try it sometime, I was in a chat just now for all of 5 minutes.

I asked why no one was talking about the bible?

I quoted one passage, I was "told" that they didn't have to talk about the bible 24/7.

I said I was a guest and my first visit and this is how I am treated, and I was

EXPELLED.

Yes I LOVE everyone here, and I see now what most of you have seen.

I can assure you THEY ARE NOT CHRISTIAN.

And I have been treated better by people here. Even in disagreement, and cussing me, I felt more from them.

They really hate the truth shown to them.
 Quoting: Preacher Bob

Pastor Bob: I have had that happen to me on the RITA "christian" site. I disagreed with some of their takes on the rapture and they erased my posts and told me to leave.

Close minded, one track individuals.

It does bother you even though you don't want it to because they are not supposed to treat others like that.

Why would you waste your time going to cemetery, er, seminary? Where do you think they all learn their error?

If you haven't learned hebrew and greek, yet, do so...you don't need to learn their 'pre-digested' scripture and doctrine.

Go to the Source.
 Quoting: czygyny

Same reason you go to medical school to become a gynecologist. You need to actually have the credentials before you market your services as if you were credentialed.

In the old days, it was common for Justices to not have gone to law school. In the 1600s when Harvard was started, medical school was a 1 year course on general anatomy.

For whatever reason, and I'm no historian, now Justices, though no such requirement exists, typically need law degrees before becoming Justices. Practicing medicine without a license is illegal, as you well know, and becoming a minister without the appropriate qualifications brings into question my knowledge, my dedication, my background, my appropriate qualifications, and spiritual fitness for ministry.

A seminary conferring upon a student a Divinity degree is a general sponsorship saying that person is now by education a minister and it also introduces the idea of church affiliation. For a minister to come along and start his own church, separate of all denomination, is really in my mind and, in light of different cult activity, in many peoples minds suspicious. For a minister to have been granted a degree by the seminary of that denomination is an official sponsorship of that minister. The student may not go on to work in that church, but it is always good to have the degree because there will be skeptics that challenge you on the basis of qualification, education, et cetera.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the subject of learning falsehoods, it's an interesting theory, though it does not apply to me.
Basically, I think a degree is not so much a report card, in the sense that it indicates passage of all tests and you have x amount of knowledge that fits in x sized cup. But rather it indicates that you have the prerequisite knowledge and skills to operate on a college level or graduate level. You can pass every test you take and not remember a question or answer on it a month later. But it still shows the ability to learn and process new information, on a college level.
So no, they can teach whatever they want. I can still believe how I want as long as I put the answer they want on the test.
I might not believe in the Holocaust, but for a cheesy example, if they say, "How many Jews were killed in the Holocaust?" I can fight it all I want but according to present day historians and people who have seen the record the
answer is 6 million.
And if I have to circle 6 million on the test, though I disagree with it and it's not accurate according to the evidence I have seen, by God I'll circle 6 million.
Bad example, I know. But I think the point is clear.
Re: It is A SAD Day when I can Talk about Jesus ON GLP, BUT BE BANNED FOR TALKING ABOUT THE BIBLE ON A CHRISTIAN SITE!!!!Quote
I attended the Assembly of God church a 300 member church in my town, for 26 years, with my four children.
One year before 9/11 the Holy Spirit moved very powerfully upon me to bring forth a strong message via a "word of prophecy" for the church. It was a warning of hard times to come in America, but with exoration to stay faithful to Jesus.
The next time I went to that church I was told to SHUT my mouth and to never speak there again. My reply to the elder telling me that was that . . . "I have to obey God rather than man.
A few days later I received a CERTIFIED letter with two sentances from the AOG. I was BANNED FROM THE CHURCH and I was told if I stepped foot on their property I would be ARRESTED for illegal trespassing.
My adult son and daughter who are Christians were in my home the day I received the letter. My son will now have nothing to do with any church, and it's a mircale they BOTH still love the Lord.
Sometimes it's hard to seperate the actions of "Christians" toward us, from what the LORD JESUS CHRIST TRULY IS and REPRESNTS in our lives.
I still serve the Lord, and would encouagre anyone who has has a bad experience with the "church" or 'Christian message boards [which I have had also] to SHAKE THE DUST FROM OFF YOUR FEET and continue loving,trusting, and serving the HOLY GOD who loves us.
Questions, the Heart of Learning and Teaching.
[link to www.godlikeproductions.com]
D&C 88:122 Appoint among yourselves a teacher, and let not all be spokesmen at once; but let one speak at a time and let all listen unto his sayings, that when all have spoken that all may be edified of all, and that every man may have an equal privilege.
I agree with everything you have said.  But the first thing a person learns from the Holy Spirit is that they must not teach until they have been perfected and appointed and equipped to teach.  She can have her dreams and prophesies.  She is not equipped to teach Truth.
 Quoting: Dried Up Hag
Questions, the Heart of Learning and Teaching.
Teachers, what do your students say when they leave your classroom?
“I sure enjoy going to class. I learn something every time I attend, and I always feel the Spirit.” Or, “I’m so glad to be out of there. It’s so boring. The teacher does all the talking.”
Learning the art of teaching can be a challenge, but Doctrine and Covenants 88:122 outlines several principles that can help you become a more effective teacher and change the lives of your students: “Appoint among yourselves a teacher, and let not all be spokesmen at once; but let one speak at a time and let all listen unto his sayings, that when all have spoken that all may be edified of all, and that every man may have an equal privilege” (emphasis added). According to this verse, learning is enhanced and class members are edified when they have the opportunity to participate, and one of the best ways teachers can help class members participate is by asking questions that encourage students to think, feel, and share.
Asking Questions:
Speaking to religious educators in the Church, President Henry B. Eyring, then of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, said:
“To ask and answer questions is at the heart of all learning and teaching. The Master asked, answered, and sometimes chose not to answer questions in his ministry. …
“Some questions invite inspiration. Great teachers ask those. That may take just a small change of words, an inflection of the voice. Here is a question that might not invite inspiration: ‘How is a true prophet recognized?’ That question invites an answer which is a list, drawn from memory, of the scriptures and the words of living prophets. …
“But we could ask the question this way, with just a small difference: ‘When have you felt you were in the presence of a prophet?’ That will invite individuals to search their memories for feelings. After asking, we might wait for a moment before calling on someone to respond. Even those who do not speak will be thinking of spiritual experiences. That will invite the Holy Ghost.”
Elder Gene R. Cook, formerly of the Seventy, has also counseled us on the role of a teacher in the classroom. He said: “The major role of a teacher is to prepare the way so that the [students] will have a spiritual experience with the Lord. … All true gospel teaching is done by the Holy Ghost. … We must be careful not to get in the way. … The most important thing a teacher can do is to help the student feel the Spirit of the Lord.”
How much should students participate in class? A teacher who takes up most of the class time speaking is likely talking too much. In many lessons, student participation can fill about half of the lesson time.
With the focus of helping students participate and feel the Spirit, much of your lesson preparation should be devoted to developing inspired questions that will help your students discover gospel principles for themselves. Using carefully worded questions, you can guide your students through a discovery experience, which will have far greater effect than a lecture experience, in which a teacher dumps information on students. When you do this, students will move from being idle listeners to active participants as they search their hearts for answers to prayerfully prepared questions. This will allow the Spirit to have a greater influence on each person. The principles taught by the Spirit during these discovery experiences will be tailored to the specific needs and spiritual level of each student. The lessons you will teach will then change the hearts, minds, and lives of Heavenly Father’s children.
The following suggestions will aid you in formulating great questions for your lessons.
Questions to Avoid:
1. Yes/No questions. (Will prayer help us develop faith?)
2. Questions that require only one- or two-word answers. (Which principle of the gospel is faith?)
3. Questions with obvious answers. (Is faith in Jesus Christ an important principle of the gospel?)
4. Clichéd questions. (How can we use faith in our daily lives?)
5. Controversial questions. (Have you ever lived contrary to the prophet’s counsel and been blessed in your actions?)
Productive Questions
Asking questions which cause students to think, feel, and share leads to discussions which give students the opportunity to be edified and to edify one another. This can be accomplished by using a series of search, analysis, and application questions.
1. Search questions. These questions help students discover facts, understand a scriptural story line, or grasp basic doctrine. They help students focus on the particular text being studied and provide the foundation for deeper gospel questions. For a question to qualify as a search question, the answer to the question must be found in the material being studied. Using Doctrine and Covenants 88:122 as our text, search questions might include:
• How many times does the word all appear in this verse?
• What are two things each class member is supposed to do?
• What is the promise when all participate?
Search questions may also be reworded to form “look for” statements given to the class just prior to reading the text. For example, “As we read this verse, look for how many times the word all appears.” This simple activity focuses students on what will be discussed and adds purpose and meaning as the text is being read.
2. Analysis questions. These questions should build on the information found from asking search questions. They help students discover a deeper level of understanding beyond the facts or story line and help them to think about and ponder the principles being taught. These questions may explore what the characters were feeling or how the principles in the scripture passage relate to other gospel principles. Analysis questions for Doctrine and Covenants 88:122 might include:
• According to this verse, how does a teacher’s role differ from that of the students?
• How are class members being edified?
• What does the word privilege mean to you in the context of this verse?
3. Application questions. These questions build on the information discussed from the analysis questions and should help students apply what they have learned to their own lives. Responses to application questions may differ considerably from student to student as the Spirit whispers to the heart of each individual according to his or her needs and spiritual level. Remember, the Spirit is doing the real teaching in your classroom. Application questions for Doctrine and Covenants 88:122 might include:
• What do you feel is being taught in this verse?
• How can you invite the Spirit into your classroom by asking questions?
• What can you do to ensure that each student has an equal privilege to speak during your lessons?
4. Questions that lead to testifying of truth. Application questions which draw on past experiences of students are particularly powerful. These questions encourage students to bear witness of ways the principle being taught has already affected their lives. As they ponder these questions, students will come to recognize times when they have experienced the Lord’s hand in their own lives. These are spiritual experiences that will invite the Holy Ghost. As your students share their experiences, the Spirit will testify to the other students the truthfulness of the principle being taught, and thus “all may be edified of all.” In sharing, class members also become more committed to living the principle about which they are testifying. Examples of these kinds of questions for Doctrine and Covenants 88:122 might include:
• When have you felt the Spirit as you have participated in a classroom discussion?
• How has hearing the testimony of another class member strengthened your ability to live the gospel?
• When have you witnessed the blessing of “all being edified of all” during a classroom discussion?
Getting Your Class to Participate
If your class is not accustomed to participating, you will need to be patient after asking a question and wait for your students to respond. The silence may feel uncomfortable at first, but don’t give in. As you give students time to ponder your questions, the Spirit will witness to them, and they will feel prompted to share their impressions with the class. It is also important that when students do respond, you acknowledge each one’s comments in a kind and loving manner, which will encourage more participation. You might use phrases that compliment and encourage each student who participates, such as “Thank you for sharing that with us,” “Thank you for going first,” “That’s a very good point,” “I hadn’t thought of that,” and so forth. As you actively listen to your students’ responses and then sincerely acknowledge each one, you will create an environment in which even those who are timid or new to the gospel will begin to participate.
Wherever you are in your development as a teacher, if you are open to the inspiration of the Spirit, Heavenly Father will help you grow in your capacity to teach. As you reflect on the principles taught here, you will feel the promptings of the Spirit instructing you on how to apply these principles in your teaching. Remember, the Spirit is the real teacher and will instruct us individually according to our needs.
It wouldn't at all be suspicious in my mind. I know some Christians who haven't been to seminary who know a lot more spiritual truth in the Bible than do many pastors today. A lot of men in the pulpit are there NOT because God has called them but because they decided for themselves that that's what they want to do. I'm not saying that that is the case with you, because I don't know you, but what I have observed elsewhere.
I just want to add a thought.
Rather than try to start a new 'church', which sounds a bit egotistic in my opinion, wouldn't it rather be a purer motive to gather like-minded believers to explore scripture together?
Do you want to let God lead because He is worthy or do you want to lead because you think you know better than the others?
Lay members are called by God to lead the LDS church. Just like the publican, the fishermen, etc., that were called to be apostles and prophets in all dispensations since the world began.
Several fundamentals are common to all dispensations: priesthood authority, baptism by immersion and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, the sealing power (D&C 128:9-11), and temple worship. Basic gospel doctrines, including the Fall of Adam, faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, and the need for an infinite Atonement, were taught in each era from Adam's day onward whenever there were living prophets selected by the Lord (Moses 5:4-12; D&C 112:29-32).
Blaming the other guy, only works when it REALLY IS THE OTHER GUY.
But in the end Nothing is 100%-0%, I always have my part in it.
I take responsibility for that.
The site had bad mods, Yes, but I could have emailed them to let them know about what happened.
It was a first visit, I just expected something I did not get.
If you buy a Coke and they give you a Diet Coke, do you drink it? I won't I get what I came for, I wanted to talk about the bible. They did not, I did not feel like telling them where they were wrong, I did not fell like making trouble, I did give up after they banned me. I feel why demand to be there, when this may be only one mod, but there had to be some sort of system in place to allow this person to be in the position they are in. It is a reflection of the organization. I just choose not to be a part of that.
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
I concur. There is a life outside of your Christian beliefs. Many of the people here don't understand that.
There is a difference between being a Christian and being preoccupied with religion.
Some of you here. Every thread, every post is related to religion. That is not healthy, and a sign of limited faith. It's almost like you are trying to convince yourself you believe in Christ. When you really don't.
 Quoting: Profit 6
At first I didn't understand what you were trying to say, but after reading several of your posts, I see you are a Christian, just an immature one.
While your basic thought is correct, it does not come together as it should.
Basic thought- I am a Christian and Don't have to think about God 24-7 This is Correct.
But where it fails is in the understanding.
Because I am Christian I don't have to think about God 24-7, but because I am a Christian I do think about God 24-7.
Think of it this way, We have a law because somewhere someone did something wrong, but there was no way to make things right. So a law is passed so if it happens again now you may have restitution and punishment.
Because God wants us to think of him 24-7 he tells us.
Deu 11:22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
 Quoting:
We are all wicked and think only wicked thoughts apart from God. Keep your eyes on Christ.
Php 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
 Quoting:
Our works are as dung.
Any time we speak we are accountable for our words and actions.
2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
1Pe 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
My grandfather, who even gave advice to local preachers that would ask for his interpretations of bible scripture, refused to go to church, why?
In his own words, the churches in the area were filled with hypocrites, people who'd go to church on sunday, and get drunk and have improper activities for the rest of the week, that they only went there to be seen, that they weren't christians, as christians don't forget jesus's teachings whenever they feel like it.
 Quoting: Tatsuya
That makes about as much sense as saying I am not going to the Doctor because of all the sick people in the waiting room, There are nothing but flu virus, strep virus, someone has aids that is there, I don't want to go people might think I am sick.
Do these people TEACH THE BIBLE AT HIS CHURCH?
No the Pastor does, If he is Wrong, then go somewhere else.
What he and others say is They are better than the people who attend those churches and they don't want to be thought of in that way. Pride, thinking you are something you are not.
MESSENGER, what a great letter you wrote calling for repentance! That really moved me. Yes, I agree, we do need repentance and a great revival in America. It's not easy being the messenger of something people don't want to hear, is it? May God bless you and your family for speaking the truth about repentance and not trusting on any political party to save us.
MAJOR, every city I've lived in, I have tried and tried to go to churches. Trust me, I tried it, and every church I've been to I have noticed Satanic infiltrators in the body of Christ, ON THE PULPIT AREA, and a complete ineptitude of spiritual truth. No thank you. I will not be taught "vomit" or "baby milk" when I can learn from the Holy Spirit myself some real truth and real life. I take the "heat" from my family, too, for not going, but as I told them, I do not feel any guilt from not going, and I feel it's what the Lord has told me to do right now at this moment in time. It won't be this way forever, but for right now, that's where I'm at.
Edit: I do get together with believers. In fact, we're about to have a Bible study here for the next two hours in our home.
 Quoting: ThreshingSword
Excellent! I am glad to here that. I will pray for your gathering.
I do understand what you are saying, believe me I do. I just as you can not stand to hear some generic sermonett directed to a bunch of Christianeets. It takes awhile, but there is a church out there that has a man in it who is unashamed of the Gospel of Jesus and he preaches that with power and without fear. Keep looking.
I promise you that you will know it in the 1st 5 minutes of his sermon!!! He will be Bible focused and Christ centered.
NO, No, NO. Not going to church is not the answeer my friend. The church is the Bride of Christ. It is the Church for which He died. Sweep away the trash of sinners who have polutted the alters of God and look to the Lord Jesus. Go to a church where He is lifted up. You will know my friend if it is the right place for you.
We as Christians need the fellowship and love thaqt comes from corporate worship of Jesus.
Hebrews 10:25
"Not foresaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another and so much the more as ye see the day approaching".
I'm sorry but you're wrong. The Bride of Christ is a whore and slut which should be beaten, her skirt flipped up, and her shame revealed.
I can not stand the churches today and before you go asking me for reasons, how much time do you got?
It won't take much for me to be pushed out of church altogether. It is a wonder I still go as often as I do (once or a few times every few months).
I am starting my own church and going to seminary. I am sick of the filth the pastors are preaching today. People say pearls before swine, my ass. Maybe those swine don't want what you think are pearls? Maybe the swine see those pearls for what they are, garbage.
I might be a pig but I'm a darn smart pig and those pastors' think they have their little pearls but it's all garbage.
I have learned shortly into adulthood that if you want something done you have to do it yourself because frankly no one else cares. I will be in school for the next ten years, God willing, but when I am out I can finally start to fix some problems on this planet.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 785810
NOPE. You have an opinion, but the BIBLICAL answer is that the CHURCH IS the Bride of Christ. (Ephesians 5:32 as well as Revelation 21:2.)
Now that is not to say that the "church" made of concrete is that Bride. The Bride of Christ is made up of those who have by faith, sencerially given their lives to Christ and are living the Christian life as best they can. They produce "fruit" in that what they do is being seen by others as lifting up Christ and ministering to others in His name.
Come on my friend. Read your words, listen to your voice. YOU ARE AN ANGRY person. One must approach God in humbleness and LOVE not vengence. "Vengence is mine, thus saith the Lord".
YOU can not change the world! Only Christ through can do that. Christ changes one heart at a time.
Why would you waste your time going to cemetery, er, seminary? Where do you think they all learn their error?
If you haven't learned hebrew and greek, yet, do so...you don't need to learn their 'pre-digested' scripture and doctrine.
Go to the Source.
Same reason you go to medical school to become a gynecologist. You need to actually have the credentials before you market your services as if you were credentialed.
In the old days, it was common for Justices to not have gone to law school. In the 1600s when Harvard was started, medical school was a 1 year course on general anatomy.
For whatever reason, and I'm no historian, now Justices, though no such requirement exists, typically need law degrees before becoming Justices. Practicing medicine without a license is illegal, as you well know, and becoming a minister without the appropriate qualifications brings into question my knowledge, my dedication, my background, my appropriate qualifications, and spiritual fitness for ministry.
A seminary conferring upon a student a Divinity degree is a general sponsorship saying that person is now by education a minister and it also introduces the idea of church affiliation. For a minister to come along and start his own church, separate of all denomination, is really in my mind and, in light of different cult activity, in many peoples minds suspicious. For a minister to have been granted a degree by the seminary of that denomination is an official sponsorship of that minister. The student may not go on to work in that church, but it is always good to have the degree because there will be skeptics that challenge you on the basis of qualification, education, et cetera.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On the subject of learning falsehoods, it's an interesting theory, though it does not apply to me.

Basically, I think a degree is not so much a report card, in the sense that it indicates passage of all tests and you have x amount of knowledge that fits in x sized cup. But rather it indicates that you have the prerequisite knowledge and skills to operate on a college level or graduate level. You can pass every test you take and not remember a question or answer on it a month later. But it still shows the ability to learn and process new information, on a college level.

So no, they can teach whatever they want. I can still believe how I want as long as I put the answer they want on the test.

I might not believe in the Holocaust, but for a cheesy example, if they say, "How many Jews were killed in the Holocaust?" I can fight it all I want but according to present day historians and people who have seen the record the
answer is 6 million.

And if I have to circle 6 million on the test, though I disagree with it and it's not accurate according to the evidence I have seen, by God I'll circle 6 million.

Bad example, I know. But I think the point is clear.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 785810

Several observations. Use them or lose them, it is your choice.

1st.
A "Seminary" is a college where theology is the main course.

2nd.
A seminary degree does not make you afliated with a denomination. I have degree from a Presbyterian University,
An independant Christian University as well as a Regular college and I do not have any ties to them. It was a matter of going to the best place to learn from the best people available.

3rd. A degree from a seminary does not make their your "sponser". It makes you "educated".

4th.
You can start your own church any where and at anytime you want to. All you need is people who will believe what you say, hence the reason to be educated in Biblical termanology. If you do not know the Scriptures and do not have the ability to communicate them to your peole, it makes no difference what denomination you belong to if in deed any.

Just something to think about because I have been there and done that.

I just want to add a thought.

Rather than try to start a new 'church', which sounds a bit egotistic in my opinion, wouldn't it rather be a purer motive to gather like-minded believers to explore scripture together?

Do you want to let God lead because He is worthy or do you want to lead because you think you know better than the others?
