Re: Would You Date a 32nd Degree Mason?
I stumbled across this looking for something else, but I have to set a few things straight:

1) There are no secret signals that would inform the judge someone is a Mason. He was trying to impress. Mason's would not subvert the legal system, at least, not true Masons.

2) Yes, there are "secret" handshakes and signs. It seems there is a heck of a fixation about it though. I doubt I've actually executed a Masonic handshake five times in the last decade, and then only with someone who has identified himself as a Mason for grins. The handshakes do become more complex as you rise up the degrees. I never have understood the fixation people have with the "evil" masonic handshake.

3) Yes, we do keep some "secrets", but you'd be amazed at how unexciting they are! The reason, I believe, is to test the honor of the person keeping the various secrets as they go through the degrees. Would you rather marry a man who you know will keep his word or one who you know would divulge secrets? Seems obvious to me.

4) Masonry is not a religion. However, you must be religious to be a Mason. At the very least you need to believe in God. I'm a 32nd degree "York Rite" mason, which means I have to be a Christian. NOTHING undermines that. We must commit that our responsibilities to God, country, and family come first. All this "do things" because the Mason's tell you to nonsense is a myth.

5) The Catholic Church, after they conspired with the King of France, to capture and murder all Knights Templar were not too popular with those who survived the slaughter. Also, those who survived the slaughter were not held too kindly by the Church, because Knights refused to divulge their "secrets" to the Pope. As a result, the Pope forbade Catholics from becoming involved with the later Masonic Lodges because of historical ties to the Knights Templar. An odd end of an alliance for men who fought to the death in the name of the Church against the Muslim invasion of Israel.

6) A Mason may refuse any request and refuse to participate in anything that conflicts with their religious and moral beliefs. So if someone engages in "non-Christian" activities, it's not because it is demanded or expected.

7) A person is not invited to join Masonry. Anyone who says they were invited to join is not telling the truth. To become a mason a person needs to ASK a mason how to become one. He can then apply to become a Mason. Several of us are not too happy that we are now allowed to actually tell someone they can ask how to become a Mason if they want to become involved. The idea of "inviting" someone would be beyond the pale.

Finally, someone who actually lives up to their commitments as a Mason will be a God-fearing man who keeps his word, respects his wife, honors tradition, believes in God, and practices his faith.

Re: Would You Date a 32nd Degree Mason?
My dad was a freemason. My mother never liked it. She said it was my dad's and uncle's 'religion' and she didn't think it was Christian. My aunt was an Eastern Star which is a female mason and she was Baptist. There are also organizations for kids (Job's Daughters and DeMolay.) I always thought being a mason was harmless-just a men's club of guys who stick together and do business with each other, fix tickets for each other, that sort of thing. Now I'm not so sure from things I've read.
They also do charity work. The Shriners are a part of the masons and they have free hospitals for children. I know this guy who became a Shriner after his baby got free surgery from the Shriners that he couldn't afford.
A lot of masons don't seem to know all the secrets the higher up guys know. I didn't find out until later some of the rituals they do, which sound pagan to me. I don't know why someone would join an organization where they don't tell you what their secrets are until you have joined and sworn not to tell.
I always got the impression they are anti-Catholic. DeMolay (the name of the masonic organization for boys) is the name of a Templar Knight who was boiled in oil when the Pope decided to break up the Templar Knights for being heretics and doing evil things (still, boiled in oil?-but that was in the Dark Ages, still...)
On the other hand, maybe they were into doing evil(?)
So if they named their boy's organization after a man who the Pope had tortured for being a heretic, then it's probably safe to say they are anti-Catholic. I know Catholics aren't allowed to join, but then they have the Knights of Columbus, their own organization. Anyway, I think it's an anti-Catholic organization and they also do pagan rituals and believe that Lucifer (the fallen angel before he became the devil) is a light bearer. Whatever that means. Sounds creepy to me.

There USED to be animus between Masons and Catholics (see papal decrees), but not more. The Vatican was infiltrated by Masons (6 of the last 8 popes were MASONIC rings) and they have since resolved their "differences." They are on the same new world order page, and it's all out in the open now...

Re: Would You Date a 32nd Degree Mason?
This is probably one of the biggest bunch of crap I've read in a long time.
First we aren't anti catholic,I have several Catholic Masonic friends.
Second, there's no secrets. If you are capable of doing some research you can find all the information.
And there is no "higher degree' than that of a third degree Master mason.
The 33rd degree is awarded to a Mason that has done exemplary service to the fraternity or to society.
We care for our Country, our Families.our Churches, and those less fortunate then we are.
You should find a library and learn more instead of believing blindly what someone has told you.

For the most part after reading all of your posts I had to laugh about what you said about Masons for it was a bunch of crap. If you really want to know about them I suggest reading the book Freemasons for Dummies which will displace a lot of your myths that you think are real. Masonry accepts to it doors men of all religions and the one thing you can't talk about in a lodge meeting is religion so go figure.

Re: Would You Date a 32nd Degree Mason?

if he wears the ring then he is as high as you can go a master mason.

Question ? is this true? As most of my father's side of the family wore/wear these. My mom has the Eastern Star ring, and I will be receiving their rings when she dies. Upon my father's death, the Mason's approached me to ask if we wanted a Masonic funeral. I had to ask her but she said NO, so I thought my dad was not very high in rank, as she she that he was not active. Even though I could ask her more, I'm just curious as to whether the above statement is true.
