She said it was my dad's and uncle's 'religion' and she didn't think it was Christian. My aunt was an Eastern Star which is a female mason and she was Baptist. There are also organizations for kids (Job's Daughters and DeMolay.) I always thought being a mason was harmless-just a men's club of guys who stick together and do business with each other, fix tickets for each other, that sort of thing. Now I'm not so sure from things I've read. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 739044They also do charity work. The Shriners are a part of the masons and they have free hospitals for children. I know this guy who became a Shriner after his baby got free surgery from the Shriners that he couldn't afford. A lot of masons don't seem to know all the secrets the higher up guys know. I didn't find out until later some of the rituals they do, which sound pagan to me. I don't know why someone would join an organization where they don't tell you what their secrets are until you have joined and sworn not to tell. I always got the impression they are anti-Catholic. DeMolay (the name of the masonic organization for boys) is the name of a Templar Knight who was boiled in oil when the Pope decided to break up the Templar Knights for being heretics and doing evil things (still, boiled in oil?-but that was in the Dark Ages, still...) On the other hand, maybe they were into doing evil(?) So if they named their boy's organization after a man who the Pope had tortured for being a heretic, then it's probably safe to say they are anti-Catholic. I know Catholics aren't allowed to join, but then they have the Knights of Columbus, their own organization. Anyway, I think it's an anti-Catholic organization and they also do pagan rituals and believe that Lucifer (the fallen angel before he became the devil) is a light bearer. Whatever that means. Sounds creepy to me. you are on the right track let me clear it up for you i'm a mason. Masons and The catholic church have been at it longer then most country's have been around. The templars were not bad look into they were killed because the king could not pay his debt to them so he got rid of the people he owed and the pope jumped on bored because the templars were so loved by the people he though it took away from there love for the church. We do tons of charity work thats what we are here for to help are fellow man. to be a shrinner you have to be at the top lol so they do know whats going on within. The thought that there is a rank structure is wrong you can be a 3rd degree mason and be in charge of a lodge of 32nd degree mason the # is just how many degrees you have taken which are just moral values like helping your fellow man or learning tolerance. It is open to all religions but in the us is almost all Christians. the rituals do seem weird I was very iffy at first until I did them once you understand them and hear them they make sense. as far as the secrets of course we cant tell you before you join or else they would not be secret lol. the same way the gov makes you sign papers before they let you know any national secret. But every one who comes in can walk away at any time we just dont want them telling every one our secrets.and last but not least the great Lucifer thing Pike wrote that and he was a very far out there mason. but he is right it is just interpreted wrong he is a fallen angel or a cast down angel depending on what bible you read and like every cultures evil guy he wields fire A.K.A. light I have never meet or heard of any real mason worshiping the devil I know they would not be welcome into any lodge in the us. |

I did a lot of research on it when I was young because my father was always so secretive and weird about things when I asked him any questions about this organization. I do not talk to him about it today because, real frankly, it frightens me. My father was a mason all his adult life. What I remember of living with this is that he would often act secretive and weird about things. As a kid, this made me feel very uncommfortable. I would never live with a man today who is so secretive. I like nice, open people; "what you see is what you get; kind of people who are open and honest about life. From my youth, this kind of secrecy breeds inbalance in ones life and would never consider putting/adding it to my adult life. ifSHTF.com User ID: 962002 United States 05/10/2010 01:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think there is a disconnect between secrecy and privacy. They are NOT the same. I was a frat guy in college and after all the videos, and comments I've heard about freemasonry, it sounds like the same sort of thing. We also were charged with being secretive, but honestly... its not secretive so much as it is that we simply don't want everyone else intruding on something we took pride in, as it was our common bond. The rituals and symbols are interesting and they hold value, but nothing out of the ordinary. I know our principals were centered on building better men; holding things important in life - respect for other men, family values, pride in your country, and some form of religion. Heck, with the long history of freemasonry, I'm guessing there is a sense of pride in seeing certain symbols around our nation. From what I've heard, Freemasons are a dying breed and are bleeding members faster than they can recruit them. My girlfriend and I just took a tour of the Masonic temple in our hometown here in Detroit and is that building ever gorgeous! I guess the first brick was laid with the same trowel that George Washington used to set the first stone at the white house. I don't care how you swing it, that's some interesting history, and I'd be proud to have something tied to our Nation's founders! I guess in closing... I'd rather see my peers (18-30 yr olds) get involved in freemasonry than barhopping, driving drunk, doing drugs, getting fat playing video games, etc. With that said, I'd rather see my peers going fishing/hunting, or even camping with Dad for some quality bonding rather than any of the above. just my $.02 |
