 | | Re: ALERT - Toba Super Volcano, New Intense Swarm Starts Again - NOV 9 - UPDATE PG 17 | Quote | The spate of restlessness at Gaua volcano in Vanuatu is evidently continuing. Radio New Zealand International reports that more activity has been observed by the volcanological team sent to Gaua to assess the situation. One of the team reports that very late on 5 October ‘an increase of a high volcanic high frequency’ was observed, which is presumably a reference to high frequency volcanic tremor.
The current alert level at Gaua is one, on a scale of one (lowest) to five (highest). The volcano is being closely monitored, and if there are further increases in activity the alert level will be increased to two, say the volcanologists.

Volcanologists in Vanuatu are closely monitoring the Gaua volcano to consider whether to move its alert to level two.
The volcano located in the centre of the Gaua island in northern Vanuatu has been spitting gasses and ash since late September and has been on alert level one since the 29th.
The highest volcano alert level is five.
A senior vulcanologist at the geohazards department, Douglas Charley, says his team has recorded more activity since last night.
“Very late yesterday the team started to observe an increase of a high volcanic high frequency. The level remains at one and we’ll be trying to observe this until the next 48 hours. If it’s increasing [further], then we’ll be putting it [up] to level two.”
Douglas Charley says they have one monitoring station in the field, but are now requesting more to get more reliable data.

Not disputing your post, but I really have to wonder what the benchmark is for dating when certain things happened. We really can't be sure that was 74,000 years ago with certainty. What if it was "only" 5,000 years ago and there was another eruption 5,000 years before that.
I admit a rudimentary knowledge of geology but from what I have read I cannot say that there is a firm foundation for dating certain periods. It may all be based off faulty logic or math. Remember not too long ago, it was firmly believed that the earth was flat and that the sun and other planets orbited the earth based on scientific knowledge.
If anyone has a firm grasp/understanding of the exact nature of dating such events was culminated, I would be interested in learning.
^^^^^^^
I believe carbon transforms gradually and very steadily over time. By analyzing the carbon in or around the area in question, it can provide how long the carbon has been since it was formed, or somethin glike that. I'm not too sure myself.
I agree there may be a big flaw in our dating system. For all we know the Sun may blast us with high levels of radiation every so many thousand years and that can alter our dating methods.
There is a controversy regarding air bubbles in the north pole glaciers. Apparently they say the North Pole has only been ice for a few thousand years. Very contradictory to modern sciences explaination of Earth History. Quoting: ºCRAPº
Thanks Crap, I knew I remembered something that made me think that dating may off/faulty...(I watch way too much Discovery...LOL)...it was the air bubbles and the ice that was at the edge of my memory.
Thanks to you and ICE for the updates as well. |

Scientists love to throw out these numbers...makes them look important.
When they say 74,000 years, they are lying.
It sounds like such a long time ago, that it is meaningless to you.
Carbon dating is not reliable.
Look at this and do some readjusting to your view of history.
When the Earth Nearly Died
Compelling Evidence of A Catastrophic World Change 9,500 BC
(c) 1995 by By D S Allan and J B Delair. 386pp.
Republished in 1997 as
"Cataclysm : Compelling Evidence of a Cosmic Catastrophe in 9500 B. C."
"When the Earth Nearly Died carefully documents the fascinating story - which has never been told before in such detail - of how this Golden Age of peaceful conditions and equable climates ended traumatically in a tremendous catastrophe about 11,500 years ago. This was part of a cataclysm which disturbed the whole solar system, destroyed at least one sizable planet and its satellite, and also severely devastated Mars and Earth.
Among the fundamental geophysical effects experienced by Earth were a massive fracturing of the crust, a realignment of Earth's axis, elevation of new mountains, and widespread rearrangement of land and sea. These changes were accompanied by an appalling global conflagration, a gigantic flood, and what has been described as 'collapsed sky' conditions. A bombardment by debris from the disintegrated satellite of the destroyed planet added to the worldwide chaos.
Much of Earth's animal and plant life was annihilated by these frightful events. Remains were often buried hundreds of feet below and within vast new deposits which smothered huge areas, both on land and under the sea. Elsewhere they lay piled in caves, choked rock fissures, or were massed into veritable hills. Some havens and refuges did exist, offering shelter to various faunal and floral species from flood or fire - then to have to endure the appalling conditions which followed. These included intense cold, occasioned by chronic atmospheric pollution which severely restricted the solar radiation reaching the Earth, loss of vital resources such as shelter, tools and sources of warmth and nourishment. The extent of the damage was so great that the immediate survivors found themselves literally catapulted into what was, in effect, a new world.
The possible origins of this terrible calamity are considered in some detail, the authors concluding that, after dismissing comets, asteroids and giant meteors, the most likely candidate is a supernova explosion which, on the astronomical scale of things, occurred uncomfortably close to our solar system relatively recently. This story is told from different perspectives: from the study of terrestrial organic remains; evidence from present land-forms; the testimony of geophysics and astronomy; and the traditional accounts and memories of numerous peoples round the world. It becomes clear, in the process, that modern science's invention - 'the Ice Age' - evades abundant important evidence which points coherently to a rather different interpretation of events."

[link to www.revisedhistory.org]
"What really happened in 1259/1260, actually, is known today to the one Lord God, but there is real physical and chemical evidence of the extraordinary NATURAL events of the time. The historians write that in expectation of the end of the world, people who had gone mad ran into the woods and committed suicide.
The traces of a catastrophic event are observed everywhere in the Arctic glacial core samples in the form of exceptionally powerful and keen (in the assessment of time) acidic and sulfate spikes in the investigation of samples of native ice which relate to this year. Over the course of 5,000 years before this, and also after this, up to now nothing of the kind has been noted.
As vulcanologists think, it was the hugest eruptive event, the discharge of which was transported from the source throughout the whole world. (Langway C.C.Jr., Clausen H.B., Hammer C.U. An inter-hemispheric time-marker in ice cores from Greenland and Antarctica /Ann. Glaciol., 10, 1988, p. 102-108.) In which connection, a sign of this eruption is noted in the ice cores both of the northern and of the southern hemisphere, which can are evidence not only of the great power of the eruption, but also of the fact that it happened more likely in the lower latitudes than in the middle or especially in the upper.
Nonetheless, there has been no success in tying the sulfate and acid spikes of "1259" to a concrete volcano. There also is the opinion that this catastrophic event was able to act as a trigger for the start of the Little Ice Age owing to the pollution of the atmosphere with the solid and flying products of the eruption.
One can evaluate the catastrophic effect of the 1259 event in the power of the spewing of sulphuric acid into the atmosphere in comparison with the eruption of the Tambora volcano (1815), the total aerosol discharge of which into the stratosphere was then in the estimates of Rampino and others on the order of 200 megatons. [Rampino M.R., Self S., Stothers R.B. Volcanic winters.- Annual Review of Earth and Planetary Sciences. Lett., 16, 1988, p.73-99.]. The works [Raynaud D. The total gas content in polar ice core. - The climatic record in polar ice. Cambridge, 1983, p.79-82.; and Gerlach T.M., Graeber E.J. Volatile budget of Kilauea volcano. - Nature, v. 313, N6000, 1985, p.273-277] estimate the discharge into the stratosphere of aerosol sulphuric acid as a result of an eruption of the Toba volcano (nearly 75,000 years ago) to be from 9?10^14 to 5x10^15 grams, at that time as a total aerosol discharge, and according to Rampino for this eruption - from 1,000 megatons and higher. From this it follows (with an assumption of an equivalent proportion of the components of the discharge for Toba and the event of 1259), that in 1259 from 3.6?10^14 to 2x10^15 grams were discharged, that is, on the order of 1,000 megatons of aerosol, which contained not less than 100 million tons of sulphuric acid. Plainly speaking, so much sulphuric acid came out in 1260 that a little would show up even now." |

I agree unless you have the means to travel to a new part of the world.
If you have the money why not make a good thing of it. Move a place in the world you always wanted to see, and that is relatively safe if that concerns you. There are plenty of beautiful and safe places one could settle down in. Do you have children? If so, DO NOT PANIC. It is not good for kids. Second, don't run in panic BUT with everything that is going on in the last few weeks as far as earthquakes and tsunamis are concerned, you ARE living in an elevated risk area. Let's not kid each other, it isn't safe right now. But that is life so we all must get used to it.
Do what you can do and don't discourage from what you can't do.
Enjoy the evening, peace. Those who give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and lose both. |

LAKE TOBA CALDERA - The World's largest Super Volcano.
To better understand what effect the 2004 Sumatra super quake did to Toba, read these few facts about that quake.
The magnitude was 9.1-9.3 and was 8.3-10 minutes long. It made the entire Earth shift 1cm and altered the Earths rotation by slowing it a fraction of a second a day. The tsunami was 30m/100' high. This 2004 earthquake was the rebirth of Toba the Giant.
Now the flurry of recent quakes in conjunction with the phenominally rare frequency of deep tremors over 500km deep signals bad news. It tells us there is a lot of activity down there. And generally the more active a region is, the better chances there will be an eruption and/or violent explosion.
We are witnessing something so infrequent. The last time Toba exploded the Worlds' population of Homo-Sapiens was reduced to 10,000 people world wide. It is the genetic bottle neck you may have read about.
More about Toba
Pieces of gathered information regarding Toba's last explosion will be used to simulate the effects today if Toba were to suddenly erupt in a blaze of fire out to set the world in flames.
Caldera Dimension: 30km X 100km
Mass Ejected: 2,800 cubic kilometers of ash and rock debris
Altitude of Eruption: 50-80 kilometers
Pyroclastic Flow: 20,000 square kilometers
Ash Fallout: roughly 4,000,000 square kilometers
Global Temperature: minus 3-3.5 degrees celsius. Induced Mini-Iceage roughly 10 years.
Instant Kill Radius: 1,000km radius from epicenter
Reference Size: 3,000 times stronger then Mnt. St. Helens
Sound: The entire world will hear a very loud boom. Many places near by, the sound could be deafening. NW South America, specifically Ecuador and Peru would receive the antipode sound shockwave. The air pressures in this region will be extreme and may cause hearing loss and structural damage. It will be the loudest sound on Earth.
The Mass displaced is huge. In the Pacific NE on the shores of Washington State there was once a large tsunami. The point is 0.43 cubic kilometers of Ocean displacement created a 520m/1,720' tsunami. Toba would displace 2,800 cubic kilometers. It would be generally accepted a Toba eruption would cause the Mother of all Tsunamis. Expect world wide tsunamis for weeks after the eruption. Gradually reducing in height over time. The Worlds shorelines would ALL be hit due to coastal reflections of the waves energies.
Interestingly, the East coast USA would receive a one time reflection of energy of the Antarctic resulting in a substantial tsunami height. India, Madagascar and Somalia would get hit the hardest of anywhere. All shorelines in the Indian Ocean would be devastated for miles inland.
The Instant Kill Radius is large. Unfortunately everyone in Sumatra and Malaysia.
So there you go. All this time many people worried or just thought about Yellowstone and didn't really pay attention to Toba the Sleeping Giant. After the 2004 earthquake of 9.3, one would think this would be bigger news then what it is today.
Heads up, we may witness such awesome, God like power from Mother Earth. I think Mankind may have gone too far this time and were going to get what we deserve.

I'm not sure if people truly realize the significance of how many 7.0+ earthquakes today alone.
I don't think the reality of this has sunk in deep enough yet.
We are quite probably facing the largest volcanic explosion/eruption in all of recorded history. On top of that, an Ice Age, Tsunami's for days, reduced sunlight and a Global Death Toll that would shock anyone into a delusional trance. Those who give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and lose both. |

i think if it does erupt, it wont just be this, itll be much more damaging events... end times- bible prophecies now coming true.... earthquakes and more earthquakes strange signs in the heavens and weather happenings effecting everywhere and super-volcanos .... bad times we chose to live in eh? lol Quoting: Truthseekr
Only if you do not want to take the challenge of life.
I find life comes in all sorts of ways. If I were to be facing life under such conditions from a Toba explosion, it would be an honorable experience. To be a part of history.
I would rise to the challenge and enjoy doing my best to survive. Those who give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and lose both. |

4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8All these are the beginning of sorrows. |

Either one erupted would kill everything with in 1,000km and produce a tsunami over 560m high. It would release about 1,000 cubic kilometers of ash and rock debris blocking sunlight globally.
Tobas last massive eruption left only 10,000 Homo Sapiens on the planet. Known as the genetic bottle neck in Africa. Quoting: ºCRAPº
So much for that overpopulation problem |
