Well, if it erupted suddenly, you probably wouldn't even know it. It would be an instant, painless death. Not everybody gets to go so peacefully.
However, I do hope it doesn't blow it's top. For your sake and for the rest of the world. Especially all the children that would suffer, so sad.
Well theres already children suffering in the world my friend. So we should gain knowledge, and spread it like a disease so we can prevent the world from suffering because No one deserves to suffer like people are now.... we dont need a volcano to blow- the earth is already in hell. Its time to TAKE ACTION and CHANGE THINGS! for a better future! imean, thats what you would do if you truly care about humans. ..... as i do...
I agree. 90% of the worlds money is spent on weapons.
If people stopped the BS killing and hate, we could spend that money on food, health, culture and peaceful space exploration.
We all have soo much potential yet we flush it down the toilet. i wish I knew what it would take to make everyone aware and act as we are capable of. We all could live paradise on Earth, but for some reason we allow the Hell we are in to continue.

Re: ALERT - Toba Super Volcano, New Intense Swarm Starts Again - NOV 9 - UPDATE PG 17
Another super volcano overdue for eruption was Taupo, on New Zealand's North Island. "It has a big eruption every 2000 years and it last erupted about 2000 years ago".
Most New Zealand lakes are situated in New Zealand's South Island. The largest lake on this island is Lake Te Anau (342 square kilometers/132 square miles).
The largest lake in New Zealand is Lake Taupo situated in the central North Island. It is 600 square kilometers and is really the crater of a super volcano. As a volcano, it holds the world record for the biggest eruption in the last 5000 years. Previous to that and in ancient times, Lake Taupo had a collosal eruption, one of the earth's biggest. Once Taupo was a conical volcano. It blew itself apart and formed the lake we see today.
The Rotorua area in the North Island is a hot spot for lakes. There are over 30 lakes, some of them contain thermal hotspots and activity.
New Zealand's deepest lake is Lake Hauroko (462m). It is the 16th deepest lake in the world.
New Zealand has 775 lakes (that are at least 0.5 kilometres long). Lakes cover about 1.3% of the land area.
The Maori word for lake is ‘roto’, and many lake names start with this. Some examples are: Rotoiti (small lake), Rotoroa (long lake), Rotomanu (lake of birds) and Rotomahana (warm lake).

Re: ALERT - Toba Super Volcano, New Intense Swarm Starts Again - NOV 9 - UPDATE PG 17
After some looking at historical records back to 1990, which helps give clues, and with consideration to recent earthquake swarms I feel I have narrowed the location for potential eruption.
Local Volcanoes
Ironically i can not find a list of volcanoes in the area though I know they exist. I know of Matutum and there are plenty more north of the Sea in the Philippines.
These investigations are not the only threats in the area. Toba is still considered dangerous right now. However, these are the areas of greatest risk due to several factors including frequency, depth, magnitude and historic records. Historical records are good because any area that is going to erupt in the next 20 years will have signs of such.
So the Celebes Sea and Vanuatu Islands are the ones to watch. Again, this doesn't mean any other areas are at risk. These two areas are the greatest risk.

Sorry about all the weird symbols! I don't know where they came from.... The end of the entry for each volcano gives the province where it is located, and then the years in which it saw activity. Hope you can make some sense of it. I would edit, but don't know how to get back to that post.

Harmonic Waves are created when magma is on the move. This is a strong indication of potential volcanic activity soon. It doesn't show imminent eruption but it does show magma is moving and most likely th emore it moves the closer it will get to the surface.
I will be able to post more about past data later today but here is what I see now.

There can be only one of them that is true. Why should yours be the one? If there was one of them that had the complete, undeniable, verifiable truth, the others wouldn't exist anymore.

They are recordings of distant earthquakes. When the waves reach the seismographs, they look different than a seismograph that's right on top of the quake would.
Everyone swore that those same waves at Yellowstone were harmonic tremors in January. They were wrong. And so are you.

How about something to back up your statement with actual facts other than "they were wrong". If you have knowledge about why they are not harmonic tremors please educate us why. I would be more than willing to learn.

And as far as I know, real quakes have a large ramp up with a gentle decline. Harmonic tremors are consistent and appear more like sound waves from a flute instead of sound waves from a drum hit. Those who give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and lose both.

Re: ALERT - Toba Super Volcano, New Intense Swarm Starts Again - NOV 9 - UPDATE PG 17
btw, there was yet another really deep tremor today in the Celebes Sea.
CELEBES SEA 2009/10/10 09:01:01
Mag:5.3
Lat/Long: 3.852/122.391
Depth: 594.1 km
For those who haven't read the whole thread, earthquakes below 450km are rare and are technically impossible at such depths due to heat and pressures. It makes the rock act like soft plastic which is too soft to build tension like more shallow earthquakes do. But because there are tremors that deep, they have to be a break in a large section of a techtonic plate or rapid displacement of magma and/or hot gases.
The number of deep tremors is very alarming. I believe a large pool of magma and gases is working it's way to the surface for a mega eruption. Not some simple volcano and not even powerful like Krakatoa. We are talking about a super volcanic eruption. Those who give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and lose both.

Obviously it is technically possible because it is happening. Don't you think other people outside of this thread on glp would be sounding an alarm if a supervolcano was in danger of erupting?

No, I don't think those in the know would alert the general public if a super volcano were about to erupt
