Here we go:
Three new volcano activities joining in today.
Indonesia
Seismic activity has increased at Kaba volcano, Sumatra, Indonesia. On 19th October 2009, 127 shallow volcanic earthquakes were recorded. Continuous tremor occurred on 19th October between 06:40-09:00 hr, and 20th October between 03:00 to 09:00 hr. Visual observations showed thin white emissions rising 50 m above the crater. Ground deformation has been measured across the volcano. Water temperature measurements of the craters on 15th October was 72 deg C, with a degree of acidity (pH) 3.2. Solfatara temperatures range from 106 to 107 deg C. A one kilometre exclusion zone has been placed around the crater. On 20th October the volcano was raised to alert level 2.

Ecuador:
The Ecuadorian authorities on Wednesday alerted three close-by provinces of a possible eruption of the Reventador volcano west of the capital city. The warning was issued by the country's Risks Management Ministry that said the Emergency Operation Centers of Napo, Pichincha and Sucumbios provinces had been alerted of the possible eruption. The 3,485-meter-high volcano is regularly active and started its current eruptive activities in November 2002. Last week, the volcano increased its eruptive activity and the ministry had to alert the close-by provinces in case the current conditions of the volcano might change. But the ministry explained that the alert already issued did not necessarily mean there is an immediate risk for people living nearby. The Ecuadorian Geophysics Institute has reported that Reventador's activities were measured at a level considered high, with permanent seismic signals indicating explosions while the southern side of the volcano crater could be seen as incandescent.

Democratic Republic of Kongo:
"There was no loss of life and no immediate threat to Goma because Nyamulagira lies 32 kilometres to the north and has Mount Nyirangongo acting as a barrier against lava reaching the city," Kasereka, who is director of the Goma Volcano Observatory, said. He said there had not been any population displacements. Mount Nyamulagira erupted on Monday and lava has been flowing away from the direction of Goma, which was partially submerged when Mount Nyirangongo erupted in 2002. Mount Nyamulagira is close to the scene of fighting in the town of Sake last week between the army and dissident army troops under the command of General Laurent Nkunda. Despite the lack of immediate danger to Goma, the head of the United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Goma said if there were bigger eruptions, the situation could be very different. "If that were so, lava would be able to reach the Goma and Sake road and make it difficult for humanitarian agencies to gain access to the area that was the scene of fighting between the army and Nkunda's dissidents," Patrick Lavand'Homme, head of OCHA in Goma.

There is a thread started about it.

Now, the big question yet to be answered is if this will be the start of another swarm or just a one time hit.
I think this quake was due to the recent CME grazing we had plus the no-presence of Solar Wind recently.
We shall see! Those who give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and lose both. |

 | | Re: ALERT - Toba Super Volcano, New Intense Swarm Starts Again - NOV 9 - UPDATE PG 17 | Quote | Sure looks like another High Magnitude swarm is starting.
I'm sure there will be another few days of strong quakes with 1/4th of them producing small Tsunamis, nothing global but could be local devistation on some small Island Nation.
Then the quakes will subside. Atleast, this process will repeat until the Caldera Eruption Event. At that point in time, expect global tsunamis, the strongest around the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Massive City Leveling Tsunamis!
Then a few years of reduced temps. A mini Ice Age. However, I believe the effects will be mild/moderate due to the extensive warming that us current. In a twisted way, a Caldera Eruption would help correct environmental stresses.
We must learn to respect the Earth more and understand we are here because the Earth has an amazing talent at correcting it's Biosphere. Otherwise life as we know it would not exist. This tells me the Earth will know how to react to increased warming. Possibly increasing sub-surface temps causing expansion which would result in increased pressures. The result would be more earthquakes and volcanic activity. But for the Earth to correct excessive warming she would need to pop a caldera to bring the temps down.
Modern man is the one responsible this time around. In the past it may have been the Sun or other atmospheric gas build up/depletion to cause temperature variations. But either way I believe a Caldera Eruption is the end result of increased global temps.
We are going to receive our payback for decades of environmental destruction and neglect. Those who give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and lose both. |

 | | Re: ALERT - Toba Super Volcano, New Intense Swarm Starts Again - NOV 9 - UPDATE PG 17 | Quote | In short, we live under our rules at the moment. We are the masters of our economy, homes, business and government.
But sometimes comes an event that changes history. And we can't do anything to stop it.
One could say we have no special immunity at this time in history. It can happen just as well as today as any other day. And yet the odds are up because of global temps.
The Day the Earth Bursts at Her Seams......it will change everything! Those who give up a little freedom for a little security deserve neither and lose both. |

So you are saying a big volcano releasing huge amounts of CO2, H2S, H2O and that would correct human release of the same? Doesn't add up to me. You are hypothesizing here, right? Adversity is inevitable, misery is optional. |
