Put it this way, if there was a sizeable volcanic explosion in that area of Ocean, there would be a tsunami that would tower hundreds of meters high. That is if the event is an explosive eruption similar to krakatoa or St. Helens.
If it is a caldera, well, the entire planet would have massive tsunamis world wide. And they would keep coming for many days, weeks due to coastal reflection.

fail.. its a known fact that underground has several times more volcanoes then out side.. and it does not have the energy to move that type of mass of water.. I can see a super volcanoe super heating the water and making it very prone for killer hurricanes.. but i dont see a tsunami.. Just imagine a pot full of water. If you suddenly move the pot.. waves will form inside the pot and the water might spill out.. but if you heat it up by putting it on a stove.. It will start boiling and bubbling but nothing is spilling over.. |

No, you're looking at it the wrong way. An undersea pyroclastic surge would be the equivalent of getting underneath the pot of water and then firing a .458 Lott round upwards through the bottom of it. |

Sgt. 1st Class Christopher D. Shaw, 37, and Staff Sgt. Jack M. Martin III, 26, died after a bomb exploded Tuesday near their Humvee on the island of Jolo, said Lt. Col. David King.
Both soldiers were based at Fort Lewis, about 40 miles south of Seattle.
King said the soldiers were working with members of the Filipino military on a project to build a school when they were killed. One Filipino soldier was also killed, and two more were wounded, he said.
Tuesday's bombing, King said, was the second fatal attack on Americans working with the Filipinos. In 2002, a U.S. Marine was killed by a bomb set by the militant group Abu Sayyaff.
It was Shaw's second deployment to the Philippines and the first for Martin, who served in Iraq, according to a news release from U.S. Army Special Forces Command.

I believe it will come sooner than the Nov 18th date.
The formula is sound and the math is fine, but the arrival date assumes a constant rate of travel(velocity).

The recent two deep earthquakes near the Philippines are really alarming. Especially since the second one in the same location. The odds of these two quakes being seperate from each other are near zero. So, what is going on? Is there a large body of thick molten magma rising with the consitency of soft plastic? Could very well be just that as typical friction and tension quakes do not occur at that depth, not even close.
Today there was a 6.7 at 582.8 km deep. Same place as the 630.5 km quake on the 4th 3 days ago.
It is the same location. So lets figure this. If there is something happening and is coming towards the surface, it travelled exactly 630.5km to 582.8km with a difference of 47.7km. The dates were October 4th 2009 10:58UTC and October 7th 2009 21:45UTC with a difference of 82 hours and 47 minutes.
So far the travel speed is 0.576 Km/hr.
At this rate, the event might reach the surface in 1,011 hours or at about 42 days. The date is November 18th 2009.
It may be a few days ahead or a few days behind but if anything is travelling towards the surface, it would be catastrophic. Real Global Doom everyone.
I do not support craaazy GLP babble predictions as there are millions of them. But this date has facts behind it. I may be wrong, I'de rather be wrong but the details show us something deep and deadly rising. Quoting: ºCRAPº
Reading the post above, I think the OP has a good point. I am from the Philippines by the way and can't forget the memory of the 7.8 EQ that hit us way back July 16, 1990. The capital city of Manila was hit but mercifully, no building collapsed in the Metropolis. The places north of the country was not so lucky as many buildings collapsed especially in the summer capital of Baguio city. There were more than a thousand deaths. Extremely horrifying experience...the summit of doom I ever experienced. Then 11 months later, we had the so-called volcanic eruption of the century..the eruption of the seemingly dormant volcano called Mt. Pinatubo which erupted in June 11, 1991 |
