Exactly - French cinema is taboo wise way beyond conservative hollywood - and you don't hear the French going on stupid moral crusades against it.
 Quoting: JADR

I was thinking about this and either the French don't place as much importance on movies or they are turning a blind eye to it. I can't see how one could condone the subject matter. It's disgusting.

I think that this "normalization" began a long time ago and it really picked up steam with Britney Spears. She was to the pedophilia movement as Kurt Cobain was to the grunge movement. I was in my late teens at the time Britney came around and it went from girls dressing normally to baring their midriff and short skirts. I mean for crying out loud they had a sixteen year old girl on the cover of Rolling Stone barely dressed, hugging a Teletubby. Looking back on it, it's really disturbing. To think that we sat here and watched all this happen. Now it's different. Now we're a little smarter and maybe we'll stop buying their crap, literally and figuratively.

French cinema is no better. There is a movie called The Dreamers where two teens, a brother and sister, get it on with an American boy. In some regards French cinema is worse because it's completely in your face with no attempts to veil the subject matter. That's just my opinion.

This thread also reminded me of the movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where Brad Pitt's character has a weird moment with a preteen girl. The scene where they are under the sheet in the living room.

To be perfectly honest I've about had it with movies and television in general. Sick of their odd symbolism in movies, sick of the weirdos. Recently watched State of Fear with Russell Crowe and when he first goes into his apartment there is a blue mug on the coffee table. On the mug there is a big ole Mason symbol. I stopped the movie to zoom in on it. There is writing underneath it but I couldn't make it out.

This thread is stupid - OP deserves an Oscar in his best role yet - the shocked yet aroused nun facing the erect penis of an exhibitionist!

for better or worse, "underage" humans are sexual creatures. for a country that supposedly has higher moral standards than other countries, we don't have a lot to show for it.

they keep raising the age of children.

used to be 14 in canada, now 16

still 12 in mexico?

much of the world age of consent is 12-14.

Didn't polanski's wife get killed in some weird movie? someone 'found' a gun and it convicted them all.

It's one thing for them to be sexual with each other. It's just plain wrong for an adult to take advantage of their lack of wisdom. It's predatory behavior at best.

I guess the Polish and French feel stupid...the same week this guy was picked up they passed a law that pedophiles should have their testicles chemically removed.

I sure hope that applies to those convicted in foreign countries. I don't even watch his movies.

I don't watch his movies either. Well I take that back I watched Rosemary's Baby. I can't say it was a bad movie only disturbing.

I was reading the Jessica Simpson/MTV thread and someone said that Polanski and his wife Sharon Tate had porno movies of celebs from back in the day. Was wondering if Polanski took them with him when he fled the country. Maybe that's one reason L.A. wants him back.

ohh...immoral evils...as opposed to your moral evils????

lmao

The Babylonian Talmud is in 73 volumes. opinions of rabbis that walked the earth 1500 years ago. They argue and comment each other about every possible topic. If you bother to read it you will see that for the times, it was fairly ethical.

Of course - you only get out of context quotes from Jew hating sites...probably the same place where you get your fake antisemitic napoleon quotes lmao stupid Irish batflap!!!!

Dear sir, poor sir, brave sir: You are an experiment by the Creator of the Universe. You are the only creature in the entire Universe who has free will. You are the only one who has to figure out what to do next--and why. Everybody else is a robot, a machine.
