ACETONE IN FUEL INCREASES MILEAGE UP TO 35%

Re: ACETONE IN FUEL INCREASES MILEAGE UP TO 35%Quote

I've been using acetone now for a little more than a month. My car is a 1995 saturn that now has 200,000+ miles on it. It had blow by problems and wasn't going to be drivable much longer before I started the acetone.

The change in horsepower alone was worth putting 1 ounce in per tank fill up (10 gallons). I haven't checked the milage lately, but the difference in engine behavior alone really is remarkable. The car is burning less oil too, old Saturns are known oil-burners.

Re: ACETONE IN FUEL INCREASES MILEAGE UP TO 35%Quote

thanks for the tip. The biggest thing you can do to help your car now is simply not use fuels with ethanol in them.

Despite the rhedoric from people who think they know what they are talking about, it makes a poor fuel, and is expensive and energy consuming to produce. The price of ethanol has risen to the point there it's now more expensive then the normal gas around here.

If they really wanted to, they could put vaporizors in all cars to vaporize the gas before it got to the injectors that would increase the gas mileage up to 60+ miles to the gallon for even the largest trucks. It's not a matter of them not having the technology, they simply won't allow any REAL solutions to the problem to make it to the mainstream cheap, as long as they can delay it.

I don't know if it has been posted elsewhere but on the Mythbusters last night they tested that, and it reduced gas mileage.

The Mythbusters could debunk frying an egg in a skillet. They fuck up everything. I wouldn't be too concerned about anything they debunked.

Acetone In Fuel Said to Increase Mileage

Acetone (CH3COCH3) is a product that can be purchased inexpensively in most locations around the world, such as in the common hardware, auto parts, or drug store. Added to the fuel tank in tiny amounts, acetone aids in the vaporization of the gasoline or diesel, increasing fuel efficiency, engine longevity, and performance -- as well as reducing hydrocarbon emissions.

So called Mythbusters do this cause a favour. For them to give attention to this concept means this is no myth.

Re: ACETONE IN FUEL INCREASES MILEAGE UP TO 35%Quote

Actually, my mileage went down before it went up when starting the use acetone.

Have a diesel truck. It took about 4 fillups before the advantage showed up. Also experimentation with quantity. Levelled out at 1:1000. So for all your nonmath heads: 1cc of acetone for 1000cc of diesel. Use it now for over a year. Have a 10% increase in mileage.

I don't have the guts to use it - Too afraid of milting the gaskets.

Re: ACETONE IN FUEL INCREASES MILEAGE UP TO 35%Quote

There is a lot of air circulating around a motorcycle I don´t think the "by-product" would be any worse than what I´m already exposed to. While it calls for 2 ounces for every 10 gallons I need only deal with 1 ounce per fill up.

Re: ACETONE IN FUEL INCREASES MILEAGE UP TO 35%Quote

I spent time evaluating this, before I posted. There are no other references om the net about acetone additive because the concept is brand new.
 Quoting: Rocketrod 0

Concept is far from brand new. Just hasn;t trickled over to the common man until now. My uncle had a GMC Typhoon that he dropped a Bush Grand National motor into and he always added acetone to his tank. He even used Toluene at times. Jacked the octane etc...

Racing buffs know about this kind of stuff and use it all the time, but fuel economy had nothing to do with it. POWER! POWER! POWER!!!!

Re: ACETONE IN FUEL INCREASES MILEAGE UP TO 35%Quote

be careful here , Acetone will also eat the seals in your carborettor and fuel lines, and has a lower flash point, than petrol,a fire extinquisher in the car a good policy,

another mix common with new japanese cars is a petrol/water/acetone blend, this increases horsepower and economy.
