All very nice but Ralph vaughn williams "lark ascending" is by far the greatest for me.

The first Bach Choral here is BWV 648. This particular organ ist gut but it isn't the greatest. The piece is too slow for many people to enjoy. It's spooky IMO and deceptively complex.

all those operas have a huge aria lasting about 1/2 hour, where the soprano just keeps singing " i die , i diiiiieeeee,
i die-de-die" etc etc
- its known as the die aria

a very excellent list, I would add: Chopin, especially the Nocturnes, and Aaron Copeland, everything, but best of all Handel's Messiah... yes, the whole thing...

there are some really wonderful pieces of music here, I've got a pencil & paper here so I can head to the library. Thank You Op for a great thread.

May I humbly add... Handel's Massiah there are a couple of sections that never fail to bring me to tears. Lakme's The Flower Duet., Pretty much any of the Brandenburg Concertos.
A JS Bach piece (the name I can never remember) but has a relatively simple theme but is repeated over the entire organ that, I imagine, would set your brain on fire while playing. So simple and so complex. Lovely!
