Actually there will be no differences in skills or equipment between different factions. The quests and ways to fight the Darkness that is coming will differ thoough, and all stand united against this Darkness. The countdown on the webpage (which is in sanskrit) is also a countdown to Dec. 21, 2012. Supposedly there'll be some event in-game at this time.
The only equipment that might be different between factions is the suit you'll be wearing in waging war against other societies in the Hollow Earth, in order to gain Amina (a resource). On the surface, and possibly also in hollow earth, up to you, you'll supposedly be able to dress however you like. However, depending on the secret society you choose, you'll be starting in a different city: Seoul for Dragon, London for Templars, and New York for Illuminati. From what I heard, though you begin in different cities, you can quite easily travel to other cities, and attacks can be planned against other societies' HQs.
