i was in fountain valley when the Inglewood one hit. I was inside an office but I didn't hear anything, just one big single jolt reminiscent of an explosion or something.

Plain single sonic booms are one thing, resulting from aircraft operating in the atmosphere exceeding the speed of sound, but a spacecraft on re-entry always makes a distinctive DOUBLE sonic boom...

BOOM! BOOM! like that. You can't miss it.

If you heard a doubme boom, SOMETHING entered the atmosphere... whatever tha may have been.

Yup, double boom! My vote is for Black OP's aircraft or "other" craft, but if alien craft is real, I think they have the tech to evade any sonic booms. I still don't understand the similar noise so high after an EQ. On the other hand, that time it was a different noise, but seemes to come from very high in the atmosphere.

I've photo'd a lot of UFO's, and no sonic booms conected with them ever.

I do have a mild migraine, right side. Often that correlates to eq activity on the US west coast. It's kind of generalized right now. If it zings me where Ca quakes usually zing, I'll let you know.

F-15s from the Florida Air National Guards 125th Fighter Wing based in Jacksonville and the Massachusetts Air National Guards 104th FW based at Barnes ANGB will be launched to intercept the B-52s.

u west coast

thats a long ways away

maybe they changed coasts for shoot down training....

ROME, NY (10/13/2009)(readMedia)-- The New York National Guards Eastern Air Defense Sector, headquartered at Griffiss Business and Technology Park here, will spend Oct. 14-17 training to defend United States airspace as part of a North American Aerospace Defense Command exercise which begins tomorrow.

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, the Airmen of the Eastern Air Defense Sector will direct Air Force F-15 Eagles being flown by elements of the Continental United States NORAD Region (CONR) as they intercept Air Force B-52 Stratofortresses flying along the eastern seaboard. The exercise, called Falcon Dart, will take place along the east coast and over New England.

This exercise is designed to train CONR's intercept and identification operations and will involve fighters out of Barnes Air National Guard Base, Mass., Jacksonville ANG, Fla., Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla., and aircraft from other federal agencies.

Residents may hear aircraft noise and see aircraft flying at various times throughout the day.

F-15s from the Florida Air National Guards 125th Fighter Wing based in Jacksonville and the Massachusetts Air National Guards 104th FW based at Barnes ANGB will be launched to intercept the B-52s.

On days two and three of the exercise, Air Force C-21s (military version of the Lear Jet 35A business jet) and Civil Air Patrol fixed-wing aircraft will simulate tracks of interest in the Ashland, N. H., area. F-15s from Barnes Air National Guard Base, along with fixed and rotary-wing aircraft from U.S. Customs and Border Protection will be launched to intercept the aircraft.

CONR, along with its Eastern and Western Air Defense Sectors, provides airspace surveillance and control and directs all air sovereignty activities over the continental United States.

So what are the animals doing? Restless? Cowering?

Animals are the best indication of a pending eq.

Ants everywhere but I'm assuming that's due to the rains flooding out their homes.

But the birds do seem to be acting strange, especially crows, getting dangerously close to my and my dog, following us on walks, just seem off somehow. Very hot again today.

I HEARD THIS at the same time as you, I am at ocean and alamitos. It was so loud when it was done, all the car alarms went off in the area. Any idea on what this was??? I was in my apartment, thinking a plane was about to crash or something..

Re: SONIC BOOM-LIKE SOUND OVER LONG BEACH, CA
I heard it, too. And so did the person I was on the phone with at Long Beach City College. We both said it sounded like a loud boom; like something crashed into our buildings.

Hey GLP'ers,

I was outside in my front yard and about 20 minutes ago heard two loud sonic boom-like sounds, but no space shuttle landing today. Too loud to be any kind of gun fire, car back fire, etc. I'm in East Long Beach anyhow in the Los Altos area, so no gangsters in this pard of the LBC.

Just wanted to warn my fellow Southern Californians because the last time we had an earthquake (epicenter was in Inglewood), we heard a similar loud sonic boom-like sound in the sky just after the earthquake and no I'm not EAT! ;)
