hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Factor in the effects of the energy incoming from this CME on the Cat 5 (going Cat 6 now) Hurricane Rick that's brewing off Pacific coast of Mexico & making track towards Baja ... then supposed to do a "right-hand" turn and head for Texas sometime next week = hmmmmm ?? !!
In fact, kinda strange how the local TV stations in Dallas have all had their weather forecasters talking about this storm for the past 3 days, even before it got so massive .... they've been showing how it will turn and move eastwards across northern Mexico and then sweep across Texas bringing floods and bad storms ... maybe worst over the southern half of state where bad drought as been most severe ever in history down around Austin & San Antonio then further down to coast & Rio Grande Valley.

Hey Suntards,
a) the solar cycle is missing
b) a CME rarely comes without a sunspot
c) If the magnetosphere is being hit when the CME reaches us, light out on your PC...maybe for ever. (study magnetosphere 2009)
d) no telling what a CME will bring these days. |

UPDATE FROM SIDC - RWC BELGIUM Sat Oct 17 2009, 1122 UT
The active region (no NOAA number) that approaches the central meridian in the Southern solar hemisphere produced an eruption/EIT wave around Oct 16 16:00. It remain unclear whether this lead to an Earth directed CME. The SIDC ALL QUIET ALERT is halted but we predict quiet space weather conditions until more information comes in.

There is no such thing as a Cat 6 rating for hurricanes.
But yes, looks like we are about to be back doored. When we get storms from canes that move from Mexico and across Texas, the rains can be heavy.
But this storm was following it's predicted path and intensity before any CME. It's actually the 'el nino factor. |

Sure, a Class C is tiny but considering the earth's magatic field is getting worse every single year and now there is a hole in it 10 times larger than NASA originally thought, a class C might be more powerful than we used to think. Who knows.
