Einstein, Mach, Hawking, Barbour, Bertotti, Orwig, Hoyle, Gron, Nightengale, Rosser, and many others all said there is no difference between a universe rotating around a fixed Earth as opposed to a rotating Earth in a fixed universe. In other words, science can't prove whether the Earth is rotating or the universe is rotating, because they produce the same effects.

I remember calling in once to a talk show where a guy was trying to push the idea of buying gold. And he kept saying how gold has "intrinsic value" so I called in and asked what that value was. And he basically said the same thing as this guy, that it's been valued for centuries.
But the truth is that it's basically just a pretty metal that is in moderately short supply, with a few minor industrial uses. If the shit hits the fan, good luck trying to get some guy with a bag of food to trade it for your hunk of shiny metal.
