Hi Glp,
Around 15 years ago I had an experience that I cannot fully explain. I was hoping to get some opinions from you.
A friend was living in a small trailer park in Parkland, WA (south of Tacoma) with his wife and baby son. We were all in our early 20's and his son was under a year old.
One night my girlfriend and I offered to babysit while he and his wife went out. While we were there my GF and I sat on the couch watching TV. The couch was positioned so you could see down the hallway. Every so often, I could see out of the corner of my eye, a man shaped figure would peek it's head around the corner from the laundry room and look down the hall. I only saw the movement and didn't see any features. Because the area has some crime, I initially thought someone had broken in. I checked the area thoroughly and double checked the locks on the back door. Nothing was there. I continued to see this figure peek around the doorway and once saw a figure dart from that room and run across the hall to the bathroom. Every time I would check, and find nothing.
When my friends returned that night I took him aside and recalled what I had experienced. He told me that they were aware of it and had seen it many times. He wasn't too freaked out about it as he told me that a ghostly woman in white has been following his family since his father was a boy.
Some time later, maybe two months after this, my friend and I were sitting on his couch playing video games. The women were gone and it was just us and his son, who was sleeping in his room. We were deep in the game when suddenly I saw a figure walk out of the laundry room, turn 45 degrees, walk straight toward us, then turned 45 degrees straight into his son's room. The way it moved was like soldiers doing close order drill. It was about 7-8 ft tall, had no features and was the color of Carhartt tan. It resembled a cardboard cut-out but it seemed fuzzy, like bad reception on your TV fuzzy.
We immediately went in to check on his son, but found nothing. His son was sleeping peacefully and nothing was disturbed. However; it walked into the room without opening the door or disturbing the blanket that was draped over the front of the door.
He lived there for about 6 more months, before moving out of state. He told me about seeing the figure outside his house and watching it run to the back door. This would happen when he would pull up in his car. I never saw anything more than those 2 nights.
His explanation was that it was a ghost, but I have never heard of a ghost with a description that I saw. I am beginning to think it may have been a time traveler and that is why it's features were so blurry and distorted. Perhaps it was pure energy moving through dimensions.
I would like to hear other opinions or theories others may have. Thanks for reading.
BTW - No drugs or alcohol was imbibed the nights I have described. |

Search the GLP site for "shadow person" and/or "shadow people"
That's what it sounds like to me. I used to see them in my room when I was a kid.

I have read of the Shadow-people, but most accounts of them are dark.
Nothing about Tan-people. |

We had a ghost at our last house. It didn't move with us. He was a nice olf Mexican guy and seemed to like us and didn't cause us any harm. Most of the activity centered around our son, but my husband and I each saw him. He didn't bother my daughter at all except that he kept changing her radio station to the Spanish station (but he changed all the rest of them as well). We had a small hidden room in the basement and never bothered to cut a hole into the wall to see what was in there -- we were a little afraid to know because the guy we purchased the home from told us the room was "where they hid all the dead bodies." He was a builder who built the home for his own use and had a reputation as a crook. We never took him seriously, but everytime I cleaned in that back basement area around that room, the activity would start up again. The people who moved in after us only stayed a year. I always wondered if the ghost scared them. |

Nothing that I could see. The hallway light was on when it appeared. The strange thing was I didn't feel like it was a threat.
I am a 13 year military veteran and have been described as hyper-alert. I should have at least jumped to my feet when I saw an unknown figure bearing on me. All I did was turn my head to my friend while he asked me, "Did you just see that?" |

Interesting...
I definitely had a presence of some sort at my old apartment, where I lived for the last two years. (Just moved this month). I would sometimes get 'that' feeling that someone was watching me... or see a dark shadow go by the blinds in my living room when I was watching TV... and various other subtle things. Thankfully since moving here, I haven't seen or heard or felt anything out of the ordinary.
I haven't heard about any 'tan' beings. Have you tried googling it, by chance? Have you seen anything since? |

My cousin's little boy says he see's a 7-8 foot tall being in his doorway.

I had searched a few times years back but found nothing.
Upon your suggestion I googled 'tan ghosts' and came up with this.

We had something going on at our house too years ago. Both I and my husband saw it but we didn't say anything until one day I said "I don't know if this is a ghost or what....". That's when he told me he saw it too. It kept standing in the laundry room doorway and sometimes in the doorway of the main living area but when you took a double take it would be gone. |

I am bad at recalling others' stories. My friend told me of seeing a woman in a white gown at the end of the hallway where he grew up. He thought it was his mother but she was in another part of the house. He told his dad about it. His dad said he has seen that figure since he was a kid. It followed them from out of state to every house they lived in.
It was not malevolent and didn't seem to interfere or interact. It just hung around.
To my knowledge, the woman in white stayed with his father and did not transfer to him. |

After searching more web sites, I did find another mention of a tan ghost.
They call them shadow-people, but the description is like what I saw, and not a dark entity. Children describe what they call the "Gingerbread Man".
That's a freaky name to give them. |
