Everybody wants to claim the ownership of Abraham Lincoln.
He was a Whig, but when the party died out, he became Republican. But today he would be a Democrat or a decent Republican, unlike some of the zealots who have made Rush Limbaugh their spokesperson.
Everybody will disagree with one point of view or another but the fact is, the Republican Party and the Democratic Party of today have little resemblance to the Republican Party and the Democratic Party of 1960, let alone 1860.
What we know for certain is that Democrats repeatedly invoke the name of Abraham Lincoln when talking of Obama, and that strongly suggests that Lincoln was more in line with today's Democratic party than it is with today's Republican party.

Actually faggot 3 Reps have been assassinated though your willful ignorance of historical matters will not allow you to recognize this fact. They were, in order, Lincoln in 1865 (by a Democrat), James Garfield in 1881, William McKinley in 1901, and one Democrat Kennedy in 1963.
Kennedy was in fact a conservative Democrat unlike his brother Ted, who would have made a better target for Oswald. No Kennedy was not a Republican but compared to the likes of Schumer, Boxer, and Feinstein he was very conservative ideologically.
Abraham Lincoln was a Republican and was always a Republican.

Lincoln was known for his relentless efforts to unite the country, the hatred that confronted him sounds like some of you.

Those who opposed Lincoln were racist Democrats. The same racist Democrats who sought to disturb a united country and who embarked on a Civil War are the same racist Democrats who now are dividing the country along even deeper partisan lines than what they did in the 1860s. The issue it boils down to is the same issue they so vehemently fought for in the Civil War, inherent difference in the races. You can see it now with the release of reports like MIAC and the rightwing extremism report, the attack on FOX News, the racial supremacy of heath care reform, all these issues which assert that the conservative white male is unpopular in a society where the face of the American people is slowly turning brown.
It is you people who are dividing this nation. Blacks and whites have largely lived in peace in the South for several decades. It was not even an issue until your dark skinned President came to office.

Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was the 16th President of the United States, serving from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He successfully led his country through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union and ending slavery. Before his election in 1860 as the first Republican president.

Lincoln is the one that destroyed state's rights and made the Federal government all powerful. I'm not really a fan of his.

Wow, someone who actually knows what Lincoln really did and the REAL cause of the Civil War. Kudos to you!!
Now if we can actually start to dispel the myth of FDR as a great president we may actually make some progress.
Last decent president was Andrew Jackson. Start digging into his biography, he was a good man. It truly is sad how many have been deluded by the way history is written; there is ALWAYS two sides to every story and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

A point of established History. Lincoln was assasinated by agents of British Intelligence. Gargfield was assasinated by agents of British Intelligence. McKinley was assasinated by agents of British Intelligen. IN all three case this was proven in a court of law and the perps were executed, except those that fled back to Britain.
It is likely that FDR was assasinated as well, but his being so close to death anyway made it rather easy to cover up.
So, tell me who assasinated JFK?
Lincoln had been a Whig.
