History was re-written to make it about slavery, even though most whites at the time had no problem with it. (including the north) No, the propaganda sold to the people was "saving the union".

Everybody wants to claim the ownership of Abraham Lincoln.
He was a Whig, but when the party died out, he became Republican. But today he would be a Democrat or a decent Republican, unlike some of the zealots who have made Rush Limbaugh their spokesperson.
Everybody will disagree with one point of view or another but the fact is, the Republican Party and the Democratic Party of today have little resemblance to the Republican Party and the Democratic Party of 1960, let alone 1860.
What we know for certain is that Democrats repeatedly invoke the name of Abraham Lincoln when talking of Obama, and that strongly suggests that Lincoln was more in line with today's Democratic party than it is with today's Republican party.

Back then, Republicans were Democrats and Democrats were Republicans, now it has reversed.

You may ask why he said this?
it is becouse of all the name changes both partys have had over all these years. Republic Whips was just a part of the republic party and the last name change for this party was Democrat. Back then Republicans were called Democraticens or some wording like this.
Both partys changed there name two or three times by 1900
and after that just changing of spellings.
Our forfathers were dems that are now Republicans, yes i know they used other wording but at this time i forgot what the partys were called back then. |

The Civil war didnt start until AFTER the succeeding States fired on American bases
Basically the Confederacy wanted to close down American military bases inside their states ...so they rolled out the cannons and started a war they eventually lost.
They repossessed Federal land ( the Federal Government had paid for) without returning the money and murdered a few hundred Americans in the process.
The South has spent the last 144 years pretending that they weren't responsible for the Civil War even though they fired the first shots DURING negotiations for a peaceful resolution. |
