The best way is to rub the hard drive for a few minutes with a powerful magnet. If you dont have a magnet, try putting it in the microwave for 30 seconds at 800 Watts. DONT put it in for any longer though as it could damage the drive... |

Why does my computer have a stand by mode? I stood by my computer for 4 hours the other night and nothing seem to happen other than a back ache..am I doing something wrong?

why does the messenger i have when i sign into yahoo where i type my words always have a black screen?
i can't see what i'm typing and it comes out all fucked up,lol.
it looks like a drunk was typing this.
say i signed into my email on yahoo, right, theni get signed into my messenger there, but when i talk online to anyone, the screen wherei type my words is blacked out
so i dont know how it looks until its already posted.
what is that?

Oh never mind.......I already found out when my local PC repairer charged me $98AU for a new power supply, when their selling for about $20 on ebay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont use messenger - but try going into the options, there is probably an option for background colour and for font colour - you can change font to white, or background to black. Like i said, i dont use it so dont know,. |

My ddr2 is 667mhz OC'd to 731mhz, but if I tried to push it past that, I keep failing orthos, even if I lower the divider or loosen the timings, or increase voltage, my ram won't OC higher and be stable. What's wrong? Right now I have 5600+ brisbane at 2.9ghz OC to 3.3ghz. I'm trying to get it to 3.4ghz but my ram is holding me back, I think. Any suggestions? |

ddr2-667 should easily do 800 MHz speeds. Ram overheating? Whats the airflow like in your case? What mobo do you have? |

I had a 80gb hard disk drive running xp that i took to another country and installed it as a secondary drive on a windows 2000 machine. it is not dual boot or anything. nearly everything on the xp hard drive works (programs, documents etc.) with no problems apart from some mp3 and mpg,wmv,mov,avi files. VLC player, Media Player Classic, WMP9 can not play the files but will play all others including new files that i download.
any ideas as to why this is and what i can do? |

How far does the PC get?
Do you see windows screen (assuming windows is used of course)
What does it say on the last screen that you see?
More likely to be faulty RAM (often you will here a beeping sound from iside PC if this is problematic and causing shutdown) or hard drive. Let me know how far the pc gets before it stops |

Surprised the programs still work if the old drive is just installed as a slave drive...
Sounds like a media licensing issue - often media purchased in uk cannot be used in other countries. This prevents people paying dirt cheap price for same goods in countries with a slower economy etc. |
