But the RSPCA said the rabbit-throw sent a message to children that dead animals were fun and could legitimately be used as a form of entertainment. Charles Cadwallader, animal cruelty inspector, said the rabbit-throw was also cruel. "Do you throw your dead grandmother around for a joke at her funeral?" he said. However, not everyone in the town agrees with the ban. The organiser of the pig hunt, Jo Moriarty, said the decision to can the event was political correctness gone mad. "You know, the children of the community here are fantastic, they love their animals," she told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Ms Moriarty said children communities like Waiau had a better respect for animals because they are brought up with them. Rabbits are considered to be pests in New Zealand. The country has more than 30 million wild rabbits, which cause an estimated $22 million worth of damage. In Waiau there are farmers employed full time for rabbit eradication. [link to www.telegraph.co.uk] I didn't throw my dead grandmother at her funeral because she was too heavy. Otherwise, I would have. Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it! when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support! :Brieffromnativea: |
