(2) After 6 days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There He was transfigured before them. There's more if you wish to look it up. Also, Mark 9:1 says nothing about the world coming to an end. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 797216 United States 10/24/2009 11:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Book of Mark Quoting: Anonymous Coward 797693Jesus falsely prophesies that the end of the world will come within his listeners' lifetimes. 9:1 Jesus shows that he is a false prophet by predicting his return and the end of the world within the lifetime of his listeners. 13:30 Jesus falsely prophesies that the high priest would see his second coming. 14:62 Luke Jesus falsely predicts that some of his listeners would live to see him return and establish the kingdom of God. 9:27 Jesus says that all that he describes (his return, signs in the sun, moon, and stars, etc.) will occur within the within the lifetime of his listeners. 21:32 Jesus claims that his suffering and death were a fulfillment of prophecy. But there is no such prophecy in the Old Testament. 24:44, 46 John Jesus says that "the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live." 5:25 = Mark 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste death (of the "Self"), till they have seen the Kingdom of God come with power. The death of self refers to self-sacrifice, this verse meaning that some people will not practice self-sacrifice. Mark 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in the "Clouds" with great power and glory. 13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his Elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. 13:28 Now learn a parable of the Fig tree (Jews); When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves (1948), ye know that Summer is near: 13:29 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, [even] at the doors. 13:30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. In this case the generation refers to a future generation, "when ye shall see these things come to pass" 14:62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the "Clouds" of heaven. The whole premise of Christ's Teaching is that inside human bodies live immortal souls, and these souls get reincarnated repeatedly, thus the people he addresses, specifically the high priest, are still going to be here for His return. Why? Because this planet is hell where people go after they die. |

Witness_ User ID: 735641 United Kingdom 10/24/2009 11:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Great post, OP. But not only at the NT prophesies false, the OT ones are as well. In fact, not ONE real prophesy in the Bible has actually come true, a sad hit rate because sheer luck would make you expect one or two. But none is an appalling record! Daniel's image Frankly, it's wrong. Not only are the "great empires" wrong The empires in the image were not world empires and Daniel completely failed to take into account the bigger empires in the Far East and South America but we know why that is. Because the humans who wrote that story were based in the Middle East and had no idea about the other continents let alone the people who inhabited them. Not only that, but obviously it was written AFTER these "great empires" and in fact was no prophesy at all. We know that because it notonly got its history wrong, but it actually failed to prophesy anything at all! It failed to prophesy the only genuine global empire that the world has ever seen: The British Empire. Not only did it fail in this, but is actually prophesied that EXACT OPPOSITE. It says that no other empires will come again. It will simply be weak and strong nations. Well, how wrong can you get? So Daniel's image, the most often quoted "proof" of the divinity of the Bible proves itself wrong on several accounts: Incorrect history, incomplete geography and incorrect prophecy. Hmmm... not good. Ezekiel and Tyre What can be said but "Oops"? In Ezekiel 26 it is prophesied that Tyre will be completely destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar. Then "the Lord said" that Tyre would never be rebuilt again. Unhappily for the believer not only did that fail to happen, but contrary to most towns and villages of the area, Tyre continued to prosper and remains right up to today. Go there on holiday if you want. Enjoy the place, it's a lovely area to visit. This is again a prophecy that not only didn't happen but was spectacularly and undeniably wrong! What really did happen? Nebuchadnezzar's siege failed and after 13 years, he was forced into a humiliating compromise. It was only 240 years later that Alexander the Great conquored the city but, again contrary to the prophesy it was rebuilt. But, in fairness to Ezekiel, even he admitted he got it wrong (and as he clearly said "thus saith the Lord", so did God). you can read that dramatic climb-down in Ezekiel 29:17-20 Isaiah and Damascus Oh dear! Isaiah 17:1-2 says "Damascus will cease to be a city, and will become a heap of ruins. Her towns will be deserted forever." Three millenia later and Damascus not only survives but it is a thriving, fantastic city. Isaiah and Syria This one is the Bible shooting itself in the foot. Isaiah 7:1-7 says that Syriah (kings Pekah and Rezin) would not conquor Israel, but we sse in II Chronicles 28:1, 5-6 that, er, Pekah and Rezin did just that. Oh dear, oh dear! Isaiah and the Nile Well this is a bloomer on such a scale that it blows him completely out the water in terms of credibility. Isaiah 19:5-7 clearly statesthat the Nile will diminish and dry up. It will "be no more". Hmm... why not take a cruise down the river one fine summer's day? It's lovely out there. The waters are so deep and wide. Makes for beautiful scenery against the backdrop of the rich and fertile banks that Isaiah said would be dry as a desert with nothing growing on them. Ezekiel and the Nile Not to be put off by his earlier failures, Ezekiel still got word "from the Lord" and had a crack at Egypt just like Isaiah did. Ezekiel 29:8-12: "thus says the Lord God..and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste...no foot of man shall pass through it and no foot of beast shall past through it; it shall be uninhabited for forty years. And I will make the city of Egypt a desolation in the midst of desolated countries; and her cities shall be desolated forty years... I will scatter Egyptian among the nations, and disperse them through the countries." Poor Ezekiel. God must have been joking with him! Egypt has never been desolate and waste. There has never been a single moment (let alone forty years) when Egypt was uninhabited. Neither Egypt nor its neighbours have ever been desolate countries. Civlisation has prospered there uninterrupted for all known history. Specifically, Egypt's cities has never been desolated for any period of time. And finally, there was no Egyptian diaspora. Ever. So this is error upon error upon error. Not a great scorecard to far! Jeremiah and Jehoiakim Yet another man of God who seems to have the wrong message! This guy predicted that Jehoiakim would not have a successor (Jeremiah 36:30). Unfortunately God seems to have mixed up the scri pt because the Bible itself says that in fact Jehoiakim did get a successor (II Kings 24:6). Kerpow! Shot in the foot. Okay, so the Bible predicted (and failed) events concerning mere towns and cities and individu al countries. So we know that it sees events at this level as worthy of prediction. How much s o at a global level? Events that affect ALL towns in the region or ALL mankind? That would def initely get a mention, right? I mean, wow, there must be so many predictions about the major e vents in history. Provable predictions because the fact that they were predicted hundreds or e ven thousands of years before the event would be undeniable. Let's take a look. Hitler Boy did it miss out on one of the most important people in history to affect Jews, Christians and the entire globe. It completely failed. The purpose of "Bible prophecy" is to prove the Bible true and be a set of signposts for the f uture. Well, hell, this is one huge blooper to miss out on! The Inquisition Another absent and extremely significant "for the sheep" development. In fact, of ALL the things to have prophesied, this would have been it. This certainly would have been the most useful and most provably accurate prophesy. But, er... ooops! Nil points. The world wars Sure there is general mumbo jumbo about "strife" and the rest that can be shoehorned by logical contortion to include the world wars, but the truth is that the Bible completely failed in this most significant of predictions. In fact all the "great prophets" have failed to predict these events. These global events. These "you sure can't miss them if you really can see the future" events. Global warming Modern science predicts the effects of this. The world is only just starting to see the results of it. We haven't event started the warmup act. But the greatest book of all, the book people have lived and died by and for, the one that billions believe predicted the future has completely failed to precisely, accurately and clearly predict this catastrophe of catastrophes. This global calamity that will eclipse anything and everything that mankind has ever faced before. Er... not even a whisper. Now we know why that is, it's because, of course, such a concept was simply unimaginable to the folk who wrote these fables. And of course no-one can really see the future. In fact there isn't ONE prophesy in all the Bible that is a genuine prophesy. Not one thing that is clear, accurate and precise that can be proved to have been written before the events. Moonlanding and space travel Okay, there is doubt about the moon landing but you cannot doubt space travel. Yet oddly in a book that has a Tower of Babel incurring Gods wrath because of its height, not a mention of space travel. Round Earth Need we say more? God created the Earth yet didn't know it was round? And men were persecuted for daring to suggest such a thing? Surely an allknowing God would know that without mentioning this tiny fact, even just once, persecution, torture and all manner of evil wouldhappen. But, hmm... well, you know why the Good Lord didn't mention it. Jesus Well, this is the real kicker. Many say "oh but the Bibie predicted Jesus". Well, yes, the story of Jesus was written to fit in with previous messianic tales. But see, Jesus never existed. Outside of the Bible fables and some copies of a Josephus manuscript that were altered by 1st century Christians to try to include a reference to this fictitious character (now why would they resort to forgery?), there is absolutely no writen documentation about any of these events in the very rich, very well documented history of the time. There were many people recording the history of the time. Many manuscripts exist that record details and events tiny compared to an event that had the entire nation in uproar, the Roman Governor on the back foot and a botched, politically fraught trial. Oh, an event on that scale would have been recorded by at least 40 of the prominent scholars who were recording events at the time. But yet... not a mention. Why? Because it never happened. |

Witness_ User ID: 735641 United Kingdom 10/24/2009 11:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You can rely on the fact that these people won't be able to post an actual prophesy that is provable as a prophesy because, unfortunately for them, they didn't even get lucky but chance which is rather fortunate for those who are free thinkers because if pure luck had actually made just one of those "prophesies" "come true" then we would never hear the end of it. All the other failed prophesies would simply not be as important as the one lucky strike. But, thankfully, they didn't get lucky. Not one provable "prophesy" in the Bible can be validated. It's just one failure after the other which is what makes the job of pulling this nonsense to pieces so much easier. |

Oh it's nor name calling that's of importance. Try logic, fact and reason. These won't sway a believer either. Nothing will get a believer to think or to question. Take the ridiculous Noah's ark story. Clearly impossible, disproved by science, based on ignorance and the vast evidence of the natural world shows that it's impossible on many fronts. but yet a believer will ignore all the science because belief isn't about logic, reason or even reality. It's about invisible friends and emotion. In fact, AC, I challenge you: You post here as to what WILL sway a believer. What WILL convince a believer that they are wrong? You, for example, what will YOU accept as proof that you are wrong? |
