How predictable. Shut down the bloggers. That's all you had to say.

Bump for Trinity's modem solution!

Scuze me - but that's not Trinity's solution. (it predates him... but it's still a good solution)

Any geek worth his salt in 1988 used a BBS.... you don't need a stinking internet. All you need is dial-tone. And it's just DOS text... so it's pretty damn fast on a 56k baud modem. =)
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 519348

We know. Trinity was discussing the possibility of implementing a solution for modem access to GLP, which involves more than just modems.

Okay. I'm not a geek. What do I do, hire Geek Squad? Is this like being set up to flip a switch, when necessary?

You mean 'internets'

yes, there is more than one internet. IRC, mIRC, all other chat and messenger services, bulletins and forums on all sorts of underground cell phone router tethering devices..
 Quoting: neteru<>

you can't fight the internets O_O

The Obamunists are looking for ANY way they can to stop dissent. These fuckers are so evil it's beyond belief.

Dial-in (modem) access. It's slow, it's antiquated, but would work*. Some things will have to go, like Chat, a lot of graphics and artwork, etc.

We'd have to pull together to fund it though, it's not cheap to support a lot of simultaneous users.

*Provided they don't kill analog lines containing data. Which they could do if they were really determined.

Re: Breaking: DHS to Limit Internet during PandemicQuote

BS,....they will say it's because of the pandemic, but they will crash the internet for other reasons...

probably to quell the fact that the economy will crash...and to keep panic and bank runs down.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 734630

look at it from their perspective
the internet is the fastest way next to a cellphone to get information right away in your home at the convience of your fingertips

can't have that

Nothing yet. But yeah, you could hire somebody to install a modem and s/w for you. It's not that hard. You would then dial up GLP via your home phone line. The complexity (for lack of a better term) is on Trinity's end.

All depends on your threat modeling.

If phone works, then the modem solution works.

If phone doesn't work, then a VHF/UHF/HF/relay/radio solution works.

People must adapt to changing conditions.

Wake up people. It's not rosy for much longer.

You can detect voice vs. modem data over an analog line and kill it once you sense data.

There's another solution, and that is darned near impossible to stop: mesh networking. Basically think of disparate independent machines that don't rely on a central infrastructure for routing packets around. It's a peer-to-peer-to-peer(..) solution. However, I would not expect something like that to spring up overnight.

They need a failsafe deadman for when SkyNet awakes.

Of course a crashed net is the attack itself but hey who can fix that?:doom:

Another fake crisis as an excuse for another power grab. It's coming fast and furious. The fed will fail. They are falling apart. They are desperate, they have gotten very sloppy, all of their scams are blatant, you can see the obvious patterns.

I believe the criminals that have hijacked our government are descendants of the Nazi pieces of shit from WW2, they escaped and came to the US to infiltrate after WW2. This evil vaccine, 9-11, etc genocide is on par with the concentration camp stuff. I wish there was a hell just for these people to rot and suffer.
