Re: Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) Found to Have Received More Funds from Financial Sector than Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA)
Feeding Frenzy The era of sour feelings on Capitol Hill continued after House Speaker James. C. Wright's resignation and the smear campaign against his successor, Thomas S. Foley. In a third blockbuster scandal, Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Barney Frank admitted a lengthy relationship with a male hooker who ran a bisexual prostitution service out of Frank's apartment.
The story was broken by the conservative Washington Times newspaper, which trumpeted every juicy morsel with front-page hype. Though Frank was apparently ignorant of some of the prostitute's activities, his indiscretion was so great that his standing in Congress was greatly damaged and a House reprimand passed overwhelmingly in July 1990. His home district in Massachusetts was more forgiving, reelecting him easily the following November.
Alan Greenspan is a devout libertarian and derivatives are a product of economic libertarianism. Is it any surprise that these scumbags pad Ron Paul's pockets? Ron Paul is peddling poison and his followers swallow it because he coats it with constitutional, anti-war rhetoric.

Open Secrets releases political finance data under CC license
A group that tracks the money that flows to politicians and their campaigns has decided to release its data under a Creative Commons license, and is even providing an API for access to the data.

It's hard to underestimate the power of modern data-mining techniques, which can sift through massive databases and identify unexpected correlations, providing new insights and the raw material for further research. For example, the availability of extensive data from hospitals enabled an analysis that suggests that local privacy laws may hinder the adoption of electronic medical records. But these studies rely on the existence of the raw data in electronic form; even when data's available, it may be spread across multiple sources and locked in a variety of incompatible formats. All of that explains the significance of an announcement by OpenSecrets.org, which is making a large collection of data related to political activities publicly accessible.
OpenSecrets.org is run by the Center for Responsive Politics, which appears to be largely funded by charitable foundations. The Center has been in operation for over 25 years, and it claims to provide an independent, nonpartisan view into the influence of money on the US ppolitical system. It runs OpenSecrets.org to provide a clearing house of data on political contributions and lobbying efforts, with the hope that bringing some transparency to the inner workings of the political system will lead to a more informed citizenry.
For the most part, it does this by acting as a data aggregator. In recent years, governmental requirements have meant that members of the different branches of government have had to provide details on their finances, both personal and for their campaigns. The same goes for groups, such as those that perform lobbying or have focused on issue advocacy (often termed 527 organizations). All of those filings, however, have had distinct formats, and were published by different branches of the government, making it difficult to come to terms with it all. OpenSecrets.org drew conclusions about trends and specific behaviors in part by pulling together data from these disparate sources and analyzing it as a coherent whole.

Well said, and I hope everyone can see this post for what it is. Well done.
This doesn't surprise me at all...
RP is such a duche!!
Lets see... he:
1. Says he wants to get rid of the Federal Reserve...
(who would print our money? - duh!)
2. Says he would withdraw all troops from Iraq & Afghan immediately...
(So that we can get attacked by Al-Quada AGAIN?? What if they don't use planes next time??)
3. Says we should get rid of the federal tax – and the IRS!...
(who would pay to fix the roads? Or pay for all the gov agencies that efficiently protect us from lead toys and such? – besides, what is 30% of our overall Labor??)
4. Says we should defend the border??? Wuh?
(#1- How would our nation grow without immigrants? #2 – If someone is going to sneak a dirty bomb/nuke in… they probably already have! #3 – Where would democrats get our votes!? #4 – I love tacos!!)
5. Says we should allow states to retain their own sovereignty over their citizens – let states create laws rather than the big Gov…
(DOUBLE – DUH!! – Why do we have a 14th amendment… hello?! If you are going to apply for an SS card… you are then a US citizen… not a national of your state – you will pay taxes! So that those of us on welfare can get by… hello?)
6. He’s really old.

This thread wasn't really about H.R. 3126, even though White Hat would like to take readers down that path. (Those that actually want to read about the legislation can do so at the link provided below.)
This thread was simply about the findings from the Center for Responsive Politics in regard to the way committee members voted on this bill and said committee members' contributions from the financial sector during the two-and-a-half year period they examined.

Yeah, if Greenspan was a devout libertarian, he would have shut down the Fed a long time ago.
